I assume it's all the same stuff, sans soda.

I drink sodas and coffee all the time in decent quanities. I've consumed multiple Rockstars, Monsters, Red Bulls, etc. No problems with those.

The 5 Hour Energy is different though. It contains a bunch of Vitamin B, while the usual energy drinks contain Taurine and Guarine and stuff.

Have you ever looked over the monster and rockstar cans? Monsters gives you over 200% of the recommended B vitamins and rockstars are a bit less, but still up there. The taurine and shit is not where you get your energy from those, it's B vitamins as well.

I've never had one, but a few friends of mine down those 5 hour energy things all the time and they love em. A monster is good enough for me so I haven't bothered to try this other stuff.

Sounds to me like food poisoning hours beforehand. A little swig of something can't upset you that much.

Monster is stacked with 200% of B6 and B12 per can...

You do realize that 5-Hour Energy, and all 'energy' drinks in general, are the modern equivalent of the snake-oil salesmen, right? There is little to no actual 'energy' being transferred.

Look at the ingredients or the label; the main 'energy' source is caffeine. That's not energy, that's a stimulant. There's a huge difference.

5-Hour Energy only contains 4 Calories. 4! Do you know what a Calorie is? By definition, it is the chemical energy stored in food and used by your body. So, by definition, there is virtually NO energy in 5-Hour Energy.

What's the other thing they tout? B vitamins. I hate to break it to you, but vitamins don't provide energy. The B group DOES help your body process food energy, but most people get enough from their daily diet and the body stores so much B in your liver that it would takes YEARS to become deficient.

Just look at how neither the National Institute of Health nor the Mayo Clinic list 'energy' as a trait of B vitamins.

If you like 'energy drinks' that's fine, but don't fool yourself into thinking you're getting anything but a butt-ton of empty calories from sugar and/or a whopping dose of the stimulant Caffeine.

Yea, OP is either full of BS or got food poisoning. It amazes me how powerful the mind is though, he could of gone into it afraid of something like this happening and thus - it happened.

Beats me. I ate a real meal about 5 hours before drinking the 5 hour energy. I imagine it would have affected me earlier.

If it was food poisoning your ass would still be out for the next several days you probably wouldn't want to move unless it was to go to the bathroom.

Nah. I'm feeling much better now. I think I just needed to eat and drink fluids to flush this crap out of my system.

Either shens or something is wrong with your body being able to handle B vitamins, or it was just the nasty taste that made you puke.

That's exactly what I was thinking.
