In theory, there can be Israeli settlements anywhere up to the Jordan river; it is land controlled by Israel; lost by Jordan and the Palestinians in the '67 war.
However, the Israeli courts are not allowing complete roughshod over the locals.

When the Palestinians have a state; then Israeli settlements inside the boundaries of that state will be removed.

Oh, please. Israel has never intended for a Palestinian state to exist, ever, other than as some equivalent of S African Bantustans. They always talk, talk, talk about it, making sure that no viable deal is ever reached, taking more & more from the Pals the whole time.

Israel is the power holder here, not the Pals, and the current situation is of their own design. They've already made the idea of a separate Palestinian state a near impossibility. As Bill Kristol points out, they maintain the option of keeping the occupation indefinitely, continuously nibbling off more Palestinian territory in the process.

I'm of the opinion that Pals should reverse direction entirely, demand full Israeli rights & citizenship, because they're already subjects of the Israeli govt, and will continue to be, just with lesser status & rights.

There are plenty of reasons to vilify the Nazis, but their military aggression wasn't one of them. Their country was poor and being (financially) victimized by the international community, so they did the only thing they could: fought back.

I have no respect for people who won't fight for themselves but expect others to help them.

It all boils down to the UN partition of 1948 which was clearly unfair for the Palestinians - pushed by western powers who wanted to wash their hands of the Jewish problem back home, so how are Palestinians picking fights?

I don't see how Palestinians are 'refusing the rules' for statehood when virtually every country in the world is united behind Palestinian demands save for US/Israel/Micronesia and a few lackeys.

At least you are not using the might makes right principle for settlements and claim that settlements are only some sort of deterrent against violence from the Palestinians - this is what I got from your statement about uprooting all settlements once Palestine achieves statehood. But this will not be since Israel has no such intentions - read up about the transfer policy in the west bank resulting in 'creating facts' on the ground.

Which IMHO, ericlp, is exactly the wrong song here interpretation here. As you paint a FALSE dichotomy here. That somehow the USA has only two options in the mid-east, either back Israel to the hilt or go the war against Israel on the side of the Arabs.

When a smarter US mid-east policy should being more neutral on Arab V Israeli disputes. As we in the USA have created the present dangerous seeds of a future world war in the mid-east and have in the process PREVENTED any possible peaceful solution to Arab Israeli issues.

Simply by insulating Israel from any UN sanctions, and preventing Israel from facing the realities other nations have to face in relating to their neighbors. As we in the USA have created the Israeli policies, that Israel itself can get away with everything, and the USA will save Israeli butt every time in the UN security council. And even when Israel defied a US request, to have a settlement freeze is disputed Palestinian territories, Israel neutralized Obama by pulling the AIPAC card.

Which is somewhat the point, as the USA is the only country in the world with a strong AIPAC lobby. While the rest of the world sees Israeli bullshit far more clearly.

But still, positive Israeli PR in the USA is a precious Israeli asset Israel is rapidly squandering. As Israeli crazies are increasing trying to drag the USA into a war in the mid-east.

And when hopefully a wiser US President forgets to veto UN sanctions against Israel, then and only then will Israel wake up, smell the coffee, and start making peace with its neighbors. As the wiser and inevitable US policy is to be neutral in the mid-east. Which still does not prevent the USA and the rest of the world from Guaranteeing Israeli security inside its pre 1967 borders as part of the deal.

Israel has call the PAlestinians bluff multiple times and each time the Pals folded.

Maybe the Palestinians should try to be part of Israel.
the problem with that, is their handlers refuse to accept that there is an Israel.
The Palestinians need to free themselves of the Arab slavery yoke and decide what is best for themselves in the long run.
