Wow, that Mystique-X 7.1 card rox. I'm actually considering one myself. Too bad Creative tech is pushed so much in games, since this card will only do EAX 2.0, but I guess the DD Live sounds just amazing without EAX 4.0 HD.
The amazing-ness of it is mainly dependent on your speakers.
If you have some highend computer speakers, then an X-Mystique doesn't make sense.
The only time I think it would be a good idea is if you want to hook up digitally to a receiver.
If that's what you have planned, then

Hehe Yah I think I have a decent stereo system to hook up a card like that. I have a Yamaha vx-3000 receiver, and an 8.1 setup of Paradigm studio speakers and a mirage bi-polar 1200 sub (dual 12" woofers).
I still remember playing MOH: AA.. it was so realistic storming the beach with the sounds all around me. I swore I was being shot at
A new sound card sounds like it's in order though as it would probably sound even more realistic.

Cool.
I've read that the Onix Rockets I got are similar in sound to the Paradigm studio series (something like the Studio60 range)
How are you running 8.1? (as in speaker configuration)
How did you have your computer hooked up to it before? Analog to 8 channel direct in (or 9?)
And last but not least, :camera:s?

You have some nice kit there
I have to make a shelf for my rear center or something to hold it up at the correct height since when I moved a shelf, it doesn't have a place to put it any longer.
I have studio center for my front center, and I can't recall the center I'm using for the rear, but it's not as high end since there is not much going through the rear center channel anyway. My front effects are Paradigm Titans and they give off pretty good sound for the effects, but there is only about 25watts going through them.
I'll try to take some good pics on the weekend to post. Do you have a suggestion for the rear center to suspend it or keep it at a certain height? I was told to just make a shelf using brackets and a board, but I'd like to make it look fairly presentable.

there is no difference in reality. Don't worry about it.

Right, it's sending the same signal just in a different format.
I think optical is acutally a nicer method of doing it because you can't really get any interference from electrical wires running near it since it's transmitted by light, but I'm not really sure if that would have any impact on a digital coaxial signal anyways.
