You should get an Ariel Atom :)

Believe me I have looked at them... they have the same drawbacks as other cars I've considered like a Elise or AC Cobra; even a no compromise raw car still has to have a bare minimum to be a street car. Leaving in the morning to clear blue skies and being caught in a sudden monsoon downpour at 12pm without a top isn't very inviting even if it's just one random day a week. That '30 coupe in all it's bareness still has a roof and locking doors :p

I'm not one to have a track only type of car; regardless what it is, I WILL want to drive it around town as often as I can get away with it.

On the other hand, the Atom doesn't really have an interior to speak of and anything that is exposed is probably designed to cope with weather.... hmm....

The other issue I have is price. Regardless if I can afford it or not, I have a problem with paying Lexus prices for what amounts to 4 wheels and an engine. You would think a car that stripped down would cost LESS than you're average sedan.

Have you looked into a Factory Five Racing '33 kit? They look like a killer little hotrod that you could put together for under $40k.

My brother was thinking of getting an ariel atom, but yea, I pointed out those concerns. Still, being able to beat ANYTHING on the street is exciting. Bugattis, BMWs, Ferraris, Lambos, police helicopters, ANYTHING, that is a tempting proposition. And he obviously wouldn't use it as a daily driver.

Still, who knows, eh?

About the only place an Ariel Atom won't win is on those long desert highway straights, but yeah those and the Caterhams are nutty good.
