4gb Kingston MicroSD + SD adapter for 22.95 or 12.95 with GCO

This is a especially hot deal for those with Nintendo R4DS or similar that support SDHC.

12.95 after GCO is a fantastic price. Just create a new google account and use GCO 🙂

R4 supports SDHC?

No. R4 does not support SDHC. You need a DSTT if you want to use a MicroSD bigger than 2GB.

Edit: It looks like newer R4s do support SDHC up to 4GB. Sorry for the misinformation. I didn't realize they had changed them.

I was just about to buy the 4GB Kingston that comes with two adapters, but I think I can live without the minSD adapter

So I should go for a DSTT instead of an R4 if I were to go for this deal?

Not sure what DSTT is but I think R4DS would be a better choice.
Easy to use. No need to flash your DS Lite and did I mention it's easy to use.
Oh yea, I play the games on Wifi as well.

My R4DS does NOT work with a 4GB SDHC. A micro 2GB SD is the max I've been able to get to work with it.

what brand is your MicroSD card ?

Maybe it's brand specific ?

I tried it with a Kingston, It is labeled as a SDHC card and didn't work. Someone told me that a 4GB micoSD card would work, but not a 4GB microSDHC card. I guess the high capacity part throws off the R4DS? Dunno, but my Kingston 4GB microSDHC card did not work, though it was different from the one in the OP. 2GB Kingston microSD card works great.

edit:

I use this site for a compatibility list of memory cards and roms for the R4. Any SDHC card that was tested didn't work. Like to site

"The SD (including TransFlash and microSD) ranges up to 2Gb. Anything over that is an SDHC card, which is a different format incompatible at this time. All 4Gb and future 8Gb cards will fail."

Pretty sure there's no such thing as a 4GB card in plain microSD. If it's 4gb or higher it's got to be *SDHC.

Yes, that's correct. That's what the HC stands for "High Capacity" - i.e. 4GB.

How old is your R4? Mine are all only a few months old. Does it have a spring loaded MicroSD slot, or does the card just slide in? The spring loaded ones are the older ones. They changed it because they have breakage isues.

I'm not sure about the accuracy of that site you listed above. I've checked it out before and not had problems with some games they had problems with, such as the Transformers games and CV-PoR.
It may be that they are using older firmware or cards, as most are listed as using firmware 1.11 and the newest is 1.15.

From the R4 website:

Q: How many files can I have on the R4?
A: R4 Adapter supports 128MB~4GB TF(MicroSD) card , 4GB=32Gbit

Also, Which Firmware version are you running? I wonder if thats all you need to do since some people have it working and some don't. I have an M3 not the R4 but I'm running the newest version of the R4 firmware which works fine on the M3, not sure what the differences are with the M3 and R4 but maybe i'll buy one of these and see if it works

EDIT: After more research it seems that the M3 DS Simply and R4 rev 1 don't support SDHC, some users report certain SDHC cards working however only Japanese Kingston cards. Otherwise it seems they're unstable.

The R4 rev 2 as explained above, with the new shell without a spring does support it. Also the new M3 DS Real and TTDS support SDHC. FYI for all
