This. hell the driveshaft was still disconnected. clutch still needs a bit of adjusting, i need to bleed all the lines in the car brake and clutch and then do diff and tranny fluids. and need to do the fuel filter and drain the 3 year old gas out of the tank then top off with fresh 93 with a bottle of injector cleaner. if that doesnt solve the misfire i get to track that down and fix my PS leak :D ahh working the bugs out a project...cant wait till its just done i can jump in it and enjoy it!

Autos that run on gasoline have engines.

Autos that run on electricity have motors.

Definitions for "motor"

Merriam-Webster said:
b : internal combustion engine; especially : a gasoline engine
c : a rotating machine that transforms electrical energy into mechanical energy

Dictionary.com said:
1. a comparatively small and powerful engine, especially an internal-combustion engine in an automobile, motorboat, or the like.
[...]
Also called electric motor. Electricity . a machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy, as an induction motor.

TheFreeDictionary.com said:
2. A device that converts any form of energy into mechanical energy, especially an internal-combustion engine or an arrangement of coils and magnets that converts electric current into mechanical power.

The term "motor" clearly applies to both electric and internal combustion devices. Please don't be a pain the ass.

anecdotal story about the definition of motor.

Back in shop class in highschool this guy had corrected the teacher in the same manner. The shop teacher proceeded to give that kid hell all year.

Moral of the story

That sounds awesome.
this! Chinabay goodness!

That was worth a 10 month wait.

Also, a nugget of wisdom from my own experience: don't have kids if you think marriage slowed down your progress. Shamefully I'm over 5 years in on my Beetle.

Thread (started 2-years after I began)

amen

I have three year old triplets. Havent gotten shit done in three years. I used to be the guy that stayed up late every night to do one little thing on my car. I keep saying I will go down to just two project cars but I just cant let them go.

And? He still paid less than $1k for the car. He could put $50k into the car, it was still a sub-$1k car.

Slag was talking about the value of the car now compared to what he paid in the beginning + cost of what was done to it to get where it is now.

He definitely didn't pay $400 and end up with the car on the dyno video.

I paid 50 bucks for a 1982-83 RX7 with the 12a engine in 1996. A co worker at walmart was fed up with the car as it wouldn't run correctly and no shop in the area would work on it. I gave him the $50.00, bought a haynes manual at the auto parts store, went to the shop to go pick it up (it was in their outside lot), fiddled with the carb to get it running, and drove it home. I spent about an hour learning the engine layout and adjusting the carb (it was horribly out of whack), and then proceeded to drive the car for another couple years. Best $50.00 ever spent imho.

He quoted me saying black2na should list all of the sub $1k he's gotten. I didn't ask him to list all the cars he's put less than $1k into.
