I've downloaded a lot of ISOs since getting it, but the one apps I've installed have been Office 2007 Enterprise Edition and Visio 2007 Pro. Both activated without issue.

I plan on giving Svr 2008 a whirl once I make room on my Drive with all of my VMware disks.

I've been checking this thread daily for two weeks hoping the deal would die so I wouldn't be further tempted to buy this. 😛

YES - that was the answer from the $99 TechNet deal a few months ago. The licenses are good forever, but you just won't be able to download anything from the Technet site after the subscription expires.

Yeah, that's kind of my question too--what happens when I upgrade my box or do a complete rebuild two years from now, once my subscription has expired? Does the software I've downloaded still activate just fine? If so, just download everything and you're set.

Could someone be kind enough to clarify this for me? :beer:

I'm too lazy to look but it's been said before. You are paying for the license key, you download it, it's yours to evaulate as long as you would like. You just won't have access to download it after your subscrip runs out.

With full-version software, you can make informed decisions about new technologies and deployments at your own pace.

Beta software. Receive pre-release versions of Microsoft operating systems, servers and business applications



Also, I just got my subscription activation e-mail, but for some reason it hasn't went through their system and I keep getting the error:

I just got off the phone with tech support and they said it may take another day or two, arrrrrgh, the wait. Anyone else have this happen?

They should really fix this...

The email shoud state that will take up to another 24-48 hours for the subscription to be completed. They are eating a lot of $$ on uneeded support calls.

Do they not have call Metrics.... Is it being tracked incorrectly... oh well not my money

Because TechNet is designed for the IT professional to evaluate software prior to deployment in their organization. Most businesses wouldn't be running home versions of operating systems. Another product that isn't included in TechNet is Windows Home Server.
