And the only point I came to this thread to make was that people who do illegal drugs should not broadcast it, as the OP did. If they do then they should expect to be treated with the stigma society and employers often associate with such activity. Keep it to yourself and you will get by just fine. I wasn't trying to disrespect you, which you seem to think I have based on the insults you keep hurling my way.

I personally think drugs should be legal because the economical and social cost of enforcement it too great. I'm tired of paying to jail people who smoke pot and tired of seeing people unable to work and support themselves because of a drug conviction. That's why I advocate people who do smoke pot keeping it to themselves.

Personally, you have no savings...you have a $300 habit you worked on getting medically prescribed and you net $1000 after bills/expenses.

I am close with many individuals, but their monthly income, the amount they spend and what their savings plans are not something I know anyone discussing.

I also know a lot that are into the drug scene...I don't get pill popped status updates via SMS to know whether they are on track with their dosing or not.

my parents home shit was when i was working in the refineries. i have had my current job for two years and i have been smoking "heavily" for less than that. when i was a wrench turner, i could not smoke marijuana it would cost me my job. i did not do it. in fact i didn't start smoking weed again until I was 24. 19 to 24 I did not smoke. like i said to you earlier, i don't want to explain my whole life story to you because it's tldr(like everyones) and you honestly don't give a fuck anyways and neither do i.

If you're not close enough with someone for them to be open enough to share something as petty and irrelevant as personal finance, you don't have real friends. It doesn't matter how many times they come over to your house and sit there secretly waiting impatiently to leave. Wow this thread went sideways pretty fast, mostly due to alky.

One thing i think is the major issue in this thread is not everyone is in the US. I realize that in the US drug enforement for small things like pot is out of control and can land you some serious jail time but its not like that worldwide. In vancouver today there were hundreds if not thalsands of people smoking up for 420 downtown at the art gallery like there is every year, I talked to a few freinds that were there and if i didnt work tonight i would probably have went too. There are tons of cops around there but just to keep the peace they were not arresting anyone. Around here you could walk past a cop on the street smoking a joint and unless he was really really bored he wouldnt even say anything to you other than maybe put that out in public.

I dont see why anyone in this thread even cares what people do in there spare time, at work obviously it matters but to base hiring someone on what they do in there spare time is lame. Some people drink, some people smoke cigs, some people do other drugs in there spare time, some people go to starbucks 4 times a day for there caffine fix as long as they dont bring it to work and they arnt living on the street because of it i dont see how it matters to an employer.

Idiots don't realize how easy it is to link their online persona with their real name. (It's against the rules here, but has been done numerous times to people posting in these forums.) Idiots don't realize that more and more employers are doing that regularly to screen applicants. I do the same thing - think it's cool to post on facebook a picture of you drunk at a party doing a keg stand? I question your judgment. As Paladin said - guess who is going to get the interview - the person who coaches little league on the side and has family pictures on facebook, pictures of traveling, etc? Or the person with pictures of beer pong as one of their great achievements? "But, but, that's not fair! Boo hoo!" Life isn't fair, get over it. Your resume, etc., are going to the bottom of the pile if I find stuff like that online.

This is very true, that why i mentioned as long as they arnt living on the street, because that will effect there work performance/attitude and hygiene in a big way.

But assuming you make decent money and its only a few hundred bucks a month(which is a high amount, i spend less than $200 a month, usually around 100-120) i dont see it being any different than any other hobby, or drinking for that matter.

Obviously teenagers that spend evey last dime on pot and brag about it to everyone and wear 420 hats/shits etc, which i know a few of, need to get there priorites straight and i can see having a bias against hiring them for low paying jobs. For adults that make decent money and arnt full blown high every min of every day potheads i cant see any reason to not hire them as long as they meet the job requirements.
