Who the hell smokes $300 a week? :D I spend $50 a week. Most of my friends who drink spend that in a night at the bar. So you stay home and drink crappy beer all weekend? You sure like to generalize...

Yeah, I'm not getting it either. Also, why does he assume I don't have a place to live or health insurance? I honestly swear he's fucking retarded. I mean I said earlier that I didn't smoke weed back when I was doing some of these things, yet he keeps equating my CURRENT situation to my PREVIOUS situation. The guy seriously is dense, it's like he has blinders on.

OH... I think I get it now. He thinks when I said I can save a grand a month, that meant I take my weed money out of that... no that's not that at all. rent, weed money, food, traveling expense, insurance etc etc etc is all taken into consideration before i said i could save that. that extra money i said i can save is what i give to someone in my family or donate. i don't have savings because i haven't really had a reason to save. just to get out of debt and help them out. now i want to save some money because i have some things i need/want to do.

You yourself stated you are trying to bail yourself out of debt, help your brother with college money and your mom pay her bills but at the same time blowing more than a third of your disposable income on weed and more than 10% of your take home pay.

Are you in denial?

No he didn't. He said he WAS in debt and that he's been trying to fix it. Now that he's not in debt anymore (which you conveniently ignore him saying multiple times because it doesn't fit into your fucking delusion), he's helping family.

It was $25/wk vs $300/month and bring able to afford it.

When I was dated $100 a night would have been cheap, and at the time I was paying for my own health insurance.

Sweeping generalizations don't make any sense. My friends and I avidly celebrated 4/20 yesterday. Our group included my high school's salutatorian and valedictorian, both of us prospective engineers, and both of us accepted to some pretty decent colleges.

The choice to smoke weed and intelligence are not mutually exclusive. I'm certain that you can be a perfectly balanced person while carrying the habit of occasionally smoking.

Not saying it was but you may be surprised as an engineer that your 420 habit may limit some jobs.

I am not counting children living at home though.

Are you saying that today's employed engineers never cared to try marijuana in their younger years?

Go back and read son, I have no problem with those financially responsible doing whatever.

I will say a lot more places are both drug and alcohol screening today.

Well really, you don't need to be looking for engineering jobs to comply with a drug screening. Most of my local grocers and miscellaneous stores mandate prospective employees to comply with a drug test before consideration for employment.

I'm not retarded. I'm not gonna go and apply for a job that requires drug testing a day after smoking a joint. And when it comes to the point where I have to choose between smoking pot and employment as an engineer after obtaining a four-year degree, I think the choice will be quite obvious.

Yes you do. You project a "financially irresponsible" air onto everyone else and then judge them for it.

Not really, there are quite a few responsible posters.

Most don't live with mom and dad or in a commune, have health insurance and something to fall back on should the worst happen.

They got to this point by buying toys after their responsibilities were covered.
