3rd Coldest Winter in American History

One arctic blast after another. I have never experienced weather this brutal and prolonged. I am very interested to see how global warming theorists spin this one. At this point it is getting a bit embarassing for them.

warm air at the pole -> cold arctic airstreams pushed south -> omfgwtfbbq cold in the northern habitable regions.

cannot wait for the spring, though... even that 60F warm spell the other week wasn't enough to fully melt the iceberg that's been blocking my alleyway since about January.

I'm not sure, is it called global warming or American warming?

Amazing, the levels of dishonesty people exhibit to deny science.

No doubt we haven't had a winter like this since the 70s.

No one is going to feel a global temp rise though. Think about it... 0.5c since the 70s - even if that was fully applied to the US region at this time, it wouldn't make a difference. A polar blast in the winter is still going to freeze your !@# off.

On top of that, it's a global average. Not all regions have trended equally in the past 40 years. So it's not even fair to apply 0.5c to all our expectations. Climate is best described as a summation of 30+ years of weather. You cannot stick your head outside and measure it, or feel it.

Winter is still winter. "Snow is now a thing of the past" were just morons playing scientist.

There are no points to be made by a cold US winter. In fact, the next thing you'll see are "warm" global temps "despite no El Ninio". They are chomping at the bit for a new global record next time El Nino strikes. All we can do is wait and see.

Our winter has been brutal in MN. But it will only be in the top 5 for the state /facepalm
I think it is time to seriously debate moving south.

Wind chill around nyc has been about zero and that sucks. I can't imagine wind chill of negative everything or whatever you guys get.

What's next?! A rewrite of history saying the USSR was a socialist country because it had the name "socialist" in it?

Do you know how stupid you sound when trying to disprove a theory by totally misrepresenting the theory? Pretty stupid to those in the know and yet you seem pretty smart to other idiots.

But please, continue linking to blog articles which offer, ever so insightful commentary, that highlight the type of content you read that powers your ignorant thoughts😉

Neither, its now known as 'climate change'.

Its amazing the psudo-science people swallow to advance their political agenda.

Did you know it sounds smarter to offer insightful commentary to refute a point? An informed thoughtful person would provide such.

Really would have been better if it was a little colder for longer periods of time. 15 or 20 below for a week straight, something like that. Get a nice deep freeze in.

Not at all
Its global Warming
Take for example Australia
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/feb/28/australian-summer-melts-records
Australia experienced its 15th hottest summer since records began in 1910, while the summer before was the hottest ever.

“It was a really extreme and variable summer, with a series of heatwave events with lots of records broken,” according to a Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) spokesman.

BTW it was ALWAYS climate change before Global Warming got coined
It got called Global warming when that was the most prevalent outcome but since you know WEATHER confuses people the went back to the original descriptor

"The argument "they changed the name" suggests that the term 'global warming' was previously the norm, and the widespread use of the term 'climate change' is now. However, this is simply untrue. For example, a seminal climate science work is Gilbert Plass' 1956 study 'The Carbon Dioxide Theory of Climatic Change' (which coincidentally estimated the climate sensitivity to a doubling of atmospheric carbon dioxide at 3.6°C, not far off from today's widely accepted most likely value of 3°C). Barrett and Gast published a letter in Science in 1971 entitled simply 'Climate Change'. The journal 'Climatic Change' was created in 1977 (and is still published today). The IPCC was formed in 1988, and of course the 'CC' is 'climate change', not 'global warming'. There are many, many other examples of the use of the term 'climate change' many decades ago. There is nothing new whatsoever about the usage of the term."

3rd coldest lol? So glad you posted this, its amazing news if true! 😵

DC 1976 was the coldest I remember - could walk on the Potomac from one side to the other.

Routinely hitting -20 or worse. Especially in the mornings when it has been negative real temps. They close the schools when it gets to -35 and that has happened 3 times since the 1st of Jan with a few near misses.

I thought the point was his display of ignorance? I gave just as much effort in my post as he gave in his.

I know you have access to the internet, perhaps you could use that wonderful tool to look up stuff. Hell, you could even look up something like the definition of "global warming" and it's effects.

It's crazy warm in Sweden. Had our warmest Christmas in like 50 years. December was like the warmest it's been in 100 years. We keep breaking records for warm winters.

It looks like the American northeast is one of the few areas that has been cooler than average this winter. The last few winters have been fairly mild so this one should help kill all the bugs. Don't worry, Spring is right around the corner!
