Having said that, I plan to be there 30 minutes before they open. I also plan on calling on the 10th, to make sure they won't be starting at 8am on the 11th.

3am seems a bit extreme.:D

Well i've been using this backup C168i since I sold my original iPhone 2 months ago, roughly 90% of my calls go right to voicemail without even ringing, 5% drop, and a mere 5% actually work as expected. Its not a cell phone, its a portable voicemail machine. I literally went from the best phone in the world to the worst.

I cannot go another day without a real cell phone, I am officially going nuts and do whatever I can to ensure I get one ASAP. If that means a night of crappy sleep, so be it :)

speaking of which...

in the past 2 weeks

-my original motoq crashed HARD (1.5 years of awesome txts gone! :()
-the replacement they gave me crashed HARD as well as I was walking out (and as they were locking the door behind me:|)
-the replacement for the replacement crashed rather hard the other day (it recovered after a few reboots) but now the top speaker is broken and it sounds like it might be a faulty lead or something...

just in time too. I couldn't have planned it better if I tried. I've done some pretty awesome things with this phone but I guess it was just time.:D

Man... I really wanted to get an iPhone 3G until I found out what the rate plans were!

I'm paying $35 a month including taxes and fees for my 450 minute Verizon plan now, thanks to my corporate discount plan. AT&T still doesn't offer corporate discounts on the iPhone service plans, and the absolute cheapest plan currently available is $70 a month with the same 450 minutes I have now! I'll bet that will be more like $80 a month after taxes and fees.

Oh... and did I mention that 3G service isn't even available in my area yet? :|

Actually, i've heard AT&T will be offering the normal corporate discounts on service with the 3g iPhone.

I think were gonna have to wait until its released before we know for sure.

The AT&T $70/mo plan is including $30/mo for the unlimited data, the plan itself sans data is $40/mo.

Interesting, I hadn't realized this until now, but it looks as though if you want your iPhone to support an exchange server at all, you NEED the $45/mo data plan, whether or not your a business customer.

So, with the $30/mo plan, the only option for true exchange like capabilities is with Mobile Me.

I was under the impression that all phones would get exchange support and the $45/mo was only for Enterprise users (Business), but it looks like the $45 is tied directly to support for Exchange Servers as anyone who needs to connect to an Exchange Server is considered to be an Enterprise user.

I hope this is a bad assumption, I was hoping to play around with an Exchange server and an iPhone.:(

I'm willing to bet that there will be a hack within a week of someone playing with the phone, if that is the case. I think it's ridiculous to expect non-business owners who use Exchange email to have to pay the extra usage fees.

This is exactly what MS did with Office 2008, you had to buy the $400 "Standard" edition to get Exchange support in Entourage, because they felt like Students wouldn't require access to Exchange functionality.

I hate these big businesses, but it annoys me even more that Apple isn't doing anything about it. AT&T isn't going to be able to block Exchange on the EDGE iPhones, so I'm guessing this is their way of getting that revenue back.. so annoying!

Ok.. here's my other annoyance with AT&T. They claim to be iReady, you have to bring in a bill from your current phone service (if you are using another carrier). Why? I have no idea, but they don't need to see my bill.

I think they're doing this, so they can see what you were paying per/mo before and now what you'll be paying with AT&T, so that they can say, man a lot of these people are paying a lot more, etc... and they can use that data to rape us on prices even more. Just a conspiracy theory.

They need your bill so you can port your phone number. Carriers used to require the bill to prove that the number you are porting is yours, along with a photo ID. If your not porting your number, you don't need anything except yourself and an ID for the credit check.

If not sure if the policy has changed since WLNP first became active in 03-04, but it used to be required and I assume it still is if your buying a phone in person.

BestBuy's site mentions the same: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ol...faqID=1067390198470#11

Q: What do I need to do to switch?
A: When considering a carrier change, you'll need to make sure your number is portable. To do this, bring a recent copy of an invoice from your current carrier to your local Best Buy store. Having this invoice is very important to ensure eligibility and an accurate transfer process. Without the invoice, the new company may be unable to transfer your number. The Best Buy staff will help you determine whether your number qualifies and walk you through the switch if you're interested in making one at that time. Do not cancel your current service before switching to a new carrier; doing so will cause you to lose your number.

I have an eye doctor's appointment on Friday morning and then a work meeting that I can't skip out on. Earliest I can be at an AT&T store is noon... here's to hoping they'll still be around.

I was thinking about getting an iphone, because I currently pay 80 bucks a month for two phones with unlimited text/mms over tmobile....and the plan looks to be 120$ per month, with less minutes, and no unlim. texts....and I do not really call many people on at&t :-/ shame, shame.

The thing that people fail to realize is that the iPhone is not just a phone that you can send and receive data on. The iPhone is as close to a full computer in your pocket, that you can get. You get Mail, Safari, iCal, AppStore, iTunes, MobileChat (eventually), AddressBook, etc...

This is something you have to look at as much more than just a phone. That's what I'm having a hard time grasping, and so do many people. Yes, the plans are outrageous (well, for normal cellphone users)... but you have to look at the big picture. The functionality is astounding!

It is Kmax...but I currently have a blackberry curve, which does all the iphone does, minus a few things...yet cheaper! It feels like you are paying more of a premium for a product that is so popular.

I mean, what ARE the cheapest phone options for the iphone...a family plan (girlfriend would be on it too).

Well, the family plan for two iPhones isn't much cheaper ( I think like $10 maybe).

I'm still amazed that you have a Blackberry Curve and another phone with TMobile (unlimited messages) for $80? Are you not using web access at all? I couldn't get anything that cheap when I was looking to use TMobile with a smartphone.

I dont have a data plan, it was 20 bucks..I am allways near a wifi spot, or will be haha. I had it for a few weeks, but never used it beyond some google maps for fun.

1000 minutes, unlim. texts/mms for both lines, for 80$, which is after tax and surcharges and crap.

So now im torn, 8gb or 16gb. The 4gb i originally had was WAY too small, so I returned it and picked up an 8gb.

Never really ran into any space issues, could usually throw a movie or two on there along with quite a few songs. I dunno, I'm kinda leaning to just stick with the 8gb.

Can anyone confirm if you can sign up for a non-iPhone Family Share plan and simply add on the $30 iPhone data plan?
