3dmark05 keeps freezing

what is the problem...it keeps freezing in the second test with the green thing and the forest...runs throught the first test fine every time...freeezes in different places in the second test. played doom 3 for about 6 hours on it with no probs on high quality and i cant even run 3dmark05 without freezing comp...

The Diamond Stealth III S540 PCI graphics card isn't supported in 3DMark05, and neither is the AMD K6-2. Hope this helps!

Heat ? graphics, chipset , drivers? It does crank on the system quite a bit . Imo It is a good gfx test to see if your card can withstand intensive loops of Pure DX9 instructions regardless of make.

which drivers should i be using and how do i update drivers...my mobo is asus k8n-e deluxe and i have xp home

try 66.81's and maybe turn fast writes off in bios...How hot is your system running, GFX,CPU, Ambient system? mine has done it a few times also , usually attributed to heat or drivers , or memory latencies to tight? possibly?

The second test is gnarly, that's where I get really, really noticible artifacts when OCing my GFX card

i think its drivers...everything is running stock so its not memory timings and i dont think its heat altough that could be it...how do you install drivers? just go to the nvidia website and instal them?

Do you know what version drivers you have installed? try the 66.xx series they all should work to complete the test AFIK.

Do u have your card o/ced? If so:
I'm pretty sure it's the o/c. Your typical o/c that served you till now in games and 3dmark03 is probably too high for 3dmark05. I used to having no problems with 432/1.15 in anything but when I tried this with 3dmark05:
1.the first time freezed for a couple of secs in test2 but finished the bench. It gave me inadequate results though(lower scores than ultra speeds) which means that core slowed down.
2.The second time with same clockspeeds crashed.

So I slowed down a bit at 428/1.14 and I got what I was supposed to with these clockspeeds.
Do that in case you o/c. Slow down a bit and see for yourself

3dmark05 stresses GPU as I haven't seen with anything so far (including RTHDRIBL)

I just saw that you're running at stock speeds so even with the slight o/c of BFG OC you shouldn't have any problems.
Check your temps, GTs have high temps oced or not. Check drivers also as the others told you

What are your temperatures in your Nv Control panel? Did you build this rig yourself ? what are your other sys specs? bios version etc?

how do i check temps in nv control panel?

built rig myself yesturday

asus k8n-e deluxe
athlon 64 3200+
1 gig mushkin ram
bfg 6800 gt

now in between the tests it says windows has encountered an error and needs to shut down...and 3dmark03 says that same screen even before i can try to start the benchmark...it pops up right when i try to open it

sounds like memory to me , or a background issue,AV , or some other app, service is taking over memory space. does it give you a address like a device driver x000004a or something , then it's a VGA,memoryry driver issue address....... i dont know what else to say .............Power Supply voltages are good down the line?

those 66.81's are very good.....a noticable speed gain

3dmark 03 10660 wit 66.71 .......11200 with 66.81

05 went up a couple of hundred too, bout 4600 stock

3DMark03 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

that is the error message...ill shutdown zonealarm and norton and see what happens...01 runs fine tho

Turn off Fast Writes in the BIOS. I had this exact same problem and I was also getting freezing in games. After I turned off Fast Writes everything worked perfectly.
