I'd assume if they can assuredly play w/ the magnets and they know what "good" looks like, then they should be able to dial your set in pretty good, no???

???

When I had my bigscreen ISF calibrated he took at look at the Wega and said that it's
as good as it gets with a large CRT.

Wow..........I think I'd be kinda' pissed!!!

I'd think that an ISF calibrator (as I've been recently schooled on in another forum) would be able to at least a LITTLE something for your CRT. If you can still see distortion w/ your eyes, I'd be a little po'd at the guy.

???

I have a call into the regular TV guy I use. We'll see what he says. If he quotes too high, I'll probably just play w/ my SM and settle w/ whatever I get.

Sometimes I wonder if these guy don't just charge too much because they don't wanna work.

It will almost definitely cost you more than it's worth to fix.

Not if I get it close enough to satisfy myself via SM. And, FWIW, the TV guy that's done my stuff in the past fixed one TV for $30 the day after Thanksgiving and had to solder a bunch of crap on the main board of that one. (dunno if he was just in a good mood or what).... Then earlier this year, fixed another one replacing a capacitor that went bad for $100. (Both times just flat $$$) Not that he wouldn't want more for working on this TV but it might still be a little presumptous to assume it's gonna cost more than the TV's worth.

Wait, so that is a 36" wide? Hmm. Nice TV, damn, can't believe it's used...

Actually, 36" diagonal, though it does give a kind of WS impression looking at it.....(even moreso in person). Might just be 'cuz of its kinda' modern look combined w/ the speakers on the side.

It's definitely a great TV. Like I said before, barring any major advances in panel technology combined w/ any more definitive resolution in aspect ratios.........I could watch this TV for another decade, for sure!

The tail-end SD Wegas are worth their weight in gold, and as we've already established, they weigh a ton.

Don't listen to the nay-sayers, get it calibrated/fixed. Have a pro do it, and you'll have a good set that will last you until the industry figures out a HD tech that doesn't suck. LCD/Plasma ain't it.

"HD content looks great on an SD set. SD content looks terrible on an HD set." Can't be said enough. Plug an NES into a 720p LCD and you'll see exactly why.
