The <EM>Drug Design and Optimization Lab</em> <STRONG>(D2OL)?</strong> works to discover drug candidates against the following diseases/threats:

How does <STRONG>(D2OL)?</strong> work?
The (D2OL)? software is <a class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.d2ol.com/dOL/download_instructions.html" target=blank>downloaded</a> to your personal computer and given drug candidates to evaluate. Once your computer receives tasks to execute, it begins a candidate evaluation process similar to finding the right key to fit into a lock. Distributed computing technology enables the process of sending hundreds of thousands of possible keys to all computing devices participating in the network. This site manages the results generated and returned to the network once you connect again to the internet. As a user, no intervention is required and the software executes as long as it is turned on, even when disconnected from the Internet. What is TA's history in the project?
<STRONG>OCT. 2002: TA</strong> launches it's drive for 1st place in the project.
<STRONG>JAN. 2003: TA</strong> reaches it's goal and claims 1st place..
<STRONG>APR. 2003:</strong> <STRONG>TA</strong> reaches <STRONG>1,000,000</strong> total candidates submitted.
<STRONG>OCT. 2003:</strong> The Dutch Power Cows (<STRONG>DPC</strong>) decide they no longer want to remain in 2nd place.
<STRONG>FEB. 2004:</strong> The <STRONG>DPC </strong>advertise on the front page of their board recruiting new members.
<STRONG>FEB. 2004:</strong> Over <STRONG>200</strong> new <STRONG>DPC </strong>members join the project, outproducing <STRONG>TA</strong>, <STRONG>2 to 1</strong>.
<STRONG>APR. 2004:</strong> At current production,<STRONG> TA</strong> will lose 1st place to the <STRONG>DPC</strong>.

As of March 7, 2004, <a class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://12.3.177.174:6969/d2ol/main.php" target=blank>Geoff's Stats Page</a> indicate that we have <STRONG>18.2</strong> days left.
Many TA members have ran the client. Before the current version, both the client and server were erratic. Days would go by without new candidates being available for download, statistics would be unavailable for days on end, and support was non-existant.
Then, TRI (the people who run the project) took over management of the project from Sengent (the people who made the client). TRI then performed major server upgrades. Version 2.0 of the client is VERY stable and the user can now hoard 2000 candidates. <STRONG>The client and support provided is now rock solid</strong>.
How can you help?
1. Download the client <a class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.d2ol.com/dOL/download_instructions.html" target=blank>HERE.</a>
2. Run it..
3. Register it <a class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://app.d2ol.com/memberServices/memberLogin.jsp" target=blank>HERE</a> and add your nodes (machines).
4. Then join TA's effort to put the DPC out to pasture.
