I'd take almost anything over a G35. Even an Aztek is better looking. (Plus, the Aztek I drove as a loaner for a week was really really nice)

I think as far as drivetrain, they are tied. As far as looks, each has it's fans so also a tie.
Interior goes to the Bimmer, but the price goes to the G35. And it just so happens that the 330i's interior is not $10K better than G35's. Additionally G35 is going to be more reliable and cheaper to maintain, since the engine is used in almost every Nissan car now, and is extremely reliable engine. It has been on ward's 10 best since it came out in 1994 on the 1995 Nissan Maxima.
So G35c is a much better car in terms of what you are getting for the money, though the 330i is slightly better car if money is no object.

Do you mean to say that BMW might have problems with the inline sixes they have been building for the past thirty some years? They know a thing or two about engines of that layout and there is a reason the 3 series and the M3 have achieved legendary status for their buttery smooth, powerful, free revving, and reliable engines, amongst other things.
Notice also that no company in the world designs a car saying, "Boys, here's the high water mark we have to beat - the Infinity!!!"
That said, the $10,000 price difference is hard to overlook. Regardless, BMW lights the fire in my heart. I am a very, very happy owner.
EDIT: I take it back. BMW built its first inline six in 1933. Good Lord I love them.![]()

Nothing wrong with the BMW inline 6's but I would pick Infiniti reliability/maintainance costs over a BMW. I can't comment on the I6 reliability, but my Maxima VQ30DE is running strong at 140K miles, with only sparkplugs and knock sensor changed.

True. I'd take the BMW any day. Much nicer looking car with (probably) a higher resale value.

G35 has different interior, exterior, body from 350Z. They do have a common platform, such as engine, transmission, and suspension components. I don't see what the problem with that is. By your logic, Acura MDX is just an Oddysey with bigger ground clearance.Originally posted by: Asharus

It is not a rebadged Altima.
You're thinking of the G35C, plus it's still a 350Z + a backseat.
Click on that link. Both G35 sedan and G35 coupe are called Nissan Skyline in Japan.
Longitudonally mounted V6 with RWD. Altima is transversely mounted V6 FWD.
FM Platform: G35, G35C, FX35, FX45, upcoming M45
FF? platform: Altima, Quest, Murano, Maxima
Capiche?

I can vouch for the higher resale value. My 92 525i is worth more than a 96 Ininity I30 w/ 30k less miles.

RX-8? Has a useable back seat, costs less than both and handles better then both too. Not as fast as the G35C but as fast as the 330Ci, and it's comfy and well made aside from a few parts.
And you'll save a bundle too.

G35c of course. It's a FACT that it's cheaper, faster, receives higher marks for reliability and dealer customer service. And, subjectively, it looks a helluva lot better than a 3 series BMW.
BMW can keep their resale value. In 10 years, you might 1 or 2 grand more for your BMW, but it still doesn't make up for $10,000 difference you paid in the beginning. Muahahah.
