30.78mpg when I drive the speed limit!

Yeah... after that 116 ticket, I drive pretty much the limit, maybe 5-10 over. And I get 30.78mpg highway, compared to 27.x when I drove 85ish! (240sx)
EPA rating is 28 highway.

116?!! damn-- and they didnt take away your license?! i'd be glad i was still driving, let alone what my gas mileage is 😉 🙂

This is Texas. It's just $251.

hahaha.. <mr. burns> excellent </mr. burns>

i think i average right around 28-30 in my se-r, and i'm usually going about 5-10 over. more or less depending on city/highway driving.

80 in a 35 = $286 here in FL (taking to court dont think he got me on radar cuz spedo said 110)

good thing i didnt get nailed doing 130 in a 45 on US1

yes still have my licence invested in a toggle switch on my bike for night riding 🙂

I've gotten 25mpg before in my stang on long trips
right now i'm just doing city driving... i'm getting a solid 15 mpg

My record is bout 40 MPG on the highway, driving my Civic DX manual....
The tachometer was never higher than 2900 RPM. In case of my car that equals to about 75 mph..

75 in 5th gear in my car is a little over 3000 rpm.. I wonder if it's possible to swap gears for a higher ratio...

By the way, something wierd happened on the trip from Austin to Houston... I was going through a small town, and these two girls in a Sebring or Stratus or whatever were waving their bras out the window. The distraction almost made me run a red light!

You mean a lower ratio? Or *shrug*.

Well I assume your defense won't be that he couldn't have gotten you on radar because you were really going 75 over the limit, not 45... so what WILL your defense to that be? Also, you are retarded. 🙂

Yeah, I mean a lower ratio, but for cars, "higher" seems to mean like a higher gear.

I get about 27 or 28 MPG on the expressway averaging between 70 and 80 mph in my full size sedan (chrysler 300M). I get much worse milage (around 18 to 20mpg) in City/Suburban driving thru heavy traffic

yay 2 more mpg

We went for a drive today in my brother's girlfriends Prelude, and I made a comment that "she can shift if she wants", because she has a habbit of not shifting.. but she said it was already in 5th.

Is it normal for a Prelude to be at ~55-60 and at 3,000RPM? Or has the gearing been changed?

It was at around 4.1-4.2k at ~80mph...

I dunno. Maybe I was just noticing it more because it has a rather loud muffler on it.

same here.

eli -
that is pretty normal for a prelude - you have to remember honda engines like to rev, and have 8k+ redlines, so 80 or so at about 4k rpm is about normal, esp if you think about a typical car doing about 3k rpm at that speed...they only have redlines of ~6-7k, so it makes sense
