Not counting console games:

1st: King's Quest V On my cousin's 486@16MHz, ca. 1990. It was actually a pretty high-end machine for the day, which belonged to his dad.

Best: X-Com: UFO Defense On my old 386SX@33MHz with 6MB of RAM, ca. 1993 :)

Future: Bioshock and Spore
(if it ever comes out, that is).

1st: Pitfall - Atari 2600 (it was my buddies; I actually got a Coleco Gemini shortly after playing Pitfall for the first time in '82 I believe?)

If excluding console games, the first game for me would be The Bard's Tale.

Best: it's a tie Deus Ex on my Inspiron 6000D & Half-life 2 on my old main rig (AM2 X2 3800+ & X1900XT)

Looking forward to: Crysis & HL2:Ep2

1st: That granade throwing Jeep game on Famicom
Best: Too many, I will say World of Warcraft for PC (troll alert, but that's about the only game that I kept going back to, already quit twice, each time starting from level 1 again) and the new Super Mario with giant mushroom for handheld.
Future: Team Fortress 2!! (on my current PC with a c2d6600 and 7600GT)

I'm a shooter fan.

1st game was probably Combat on Atari 2600.
Best so far...hmm. Half life? UT 2004? Far Cry?
Looking forward: BioShock and Crysis.

Early review on Bioshock has me going nutz...can it be this good??

"A dark and astonishing masterpiece...I spend my career, and my gaming life, waiting for a moment when a game just astonishes me, when I can't believe what I'm seeing, what I'm doing. BioShock has five." - PC Gamer UK

1st - Pitfall or Frogger (I'm not sure which) for Atari 2600 on a console, and the original King's Quest for the PC (played on an IBM PS/2 with something like a 3 or 4 mhz 8086 cpu and a 10 or 20 mb HD, if I am remembering correctly-I was very young back then)
Best - I can't pick just one. HL2 for FPS action, the original Panzer General or the original Civilization and Civ. II for some strategy, and the original Command & Conquer or Warcraft II for some RTS action. Then of course there's Diablo II as well...ahhhhh, too many...I just can't decide!
Future - Nothing in the pipeline really has me overly excited at this point, maybe Starcraft 2 if they don't ruin the franchise with it.

First: Crystal Quest (Mac, 33mhz 68030, 4MB memory)
Best: Freespace 2 (P2 450mhz, 128MB, V3 3000)
Future: UT3, although I've a heard a few things about it that don't sound good. (probably G90 and some Core 2, as long as there are also other games at that point to justify it)

(Not counting the console or Apple II)

First: Flashback: Quest for Identity (IBM 25MHz 486SX, 4MB RAM, 14" CRT)... yeah I know it was also a console game.
Best: X-Com: UFO Defense & Deus Ex (I want *quality* remakes of both!) ... I never played System Shock 2, unfortunately.
Future: Starcraft 2 or Fallout 3, although hopefully it'll be some sleeper hit that'll surprise us all.

Assuming we mean computer games.......

-1st: The DOS Simpsons game, I forget the name. Anyway it didnt work. Oh wait, that doesnt count then does it?
I guess the first one we got working was gorilla.bas on a 386-40Mhz.
Knew nothing about BASIC but I learned fast.

The first REAL game was Elvira 2: The Jaws of Cerberus, a game so fun I wish they had something comparable now. Excellent mix of graphic adventure and dungeon crawling placed in the amazing setting of Elvira's panties.

When we got the 486-100 Elvira was much smoother and gorillas was unplayable. :D

-Best: Toss-up between Deus Ex and Baldurs Gate 2. Deus Ex was an excellent experience, but BG 2 lasted a long time. If you like that style of RPG then its loads of fun to play such a HUGE game. Both games were first played (poorly) on a Pentium 2 366 (I think) with a crummy ATI Rage 8MB.
Amazingly enough they both play fine on an A64 4800+ with an EVGA 7900GTX and Windows XP SP2.

-Future: Crysis. Thats it.
I have nothing else to look forward to. I dont think Lucas Arts has any interest in normal games any more, and from this point on I would not touch any RPG made by Obsidian or Bethesda.
Will try and use my current system to see how it works.
(A64 4800+ dual core. DFI Lan Party NF4 SLI DR Expert. 2GB OCZ Blackline PC4200. 7900GTX. Audigy 1. Windows XP Pro with SP2.)

If it looks fun and I really need to, I may be willing to get a complete system upgrade.
