So it looks like Democrats have compromised for the fourth (fifth?) time on a stimulus package. But the Republican majority is still blocking it, even though the proposed bill is now even smaller than what they suggested initially. So we've gone from:
Democrats: We want $3.6T VS Republicans: "Ermm, we can't agree on a plan amongst ourselves yet"
Dems: $3.4T VS Reps: "maybe $1T?"
Dems: How about $2.4T? VS Reps: No, just $1T
Dems: OK, let's just meet in the middle. $2.2T. Reps: No, $0.5T.
Dems: Wait, that's even smaller than what you said before.
Dems: Ok fine, $0.9T. Reps: No. $0.5T.
Someonesmind's interpretation of events. "Well the Democrats are clearly playing politics and preventing aid to the American people".
Meanwhile the Democrats have caved just so some sort of stimulus happens, have proposed a bi-partsan bill even smaller than what the Republicans initially wanted, only to have the Republicans STILL not go for it. There is literally nothing the Democrats could do to not be blamed other than just saying they'll vote for whatever the Republicans say. Seven months. It's been seven months since the House passed a stimulus package and the Republicans still haven't done anything. But you just know that they'll blame the new administration for the economic fallout.
