The funny thing about "choice" is that most people want the availability of choices, but ultimately want someone else to tell them which one to use. We love our options, but hate decisions. Humans are weird that way.

That about where I'm at, but I don't like Castro. IDK what it is, but he gives me a creeper vibe.

Staking out positions like decriminalization of border crossings just seems like a stupid political issue. It's a nuanced legal classification that's too easily pilloried as "open borders" in a national election. I can't see how this wins more votes than it loses.

Same with hc for illegal immigrants.

Even in a D debate it was easy to attack Bernie and Warren as wanting to take away ppls insurance and force a big govt cheese program, meanwhile opening up the borders and giving the benefits away to illegals.

Attack may not get a lot of traction amongst progressives, but it will terrify Independents and moderates.

If Warren is really a capitalist, she should be confident in allowing a private insurance plan compete with a public option that will set the floor for an affordable, reasonable quality plan.

If the private plan sucks, it will die of it's own accord.

Don't let perfect be the enemy of the good.

Call me skeptical that without the now louder and larger liberal wing of the party pushing more radical plans that someone like Biden who is solidly occupying the moderate lane would have such a (relatively) progressive healthcare proposal.

Also - this is why Delany is full of shit. His line about hospital administrators saying it would be end of times if medicare for all went through is a joke.

Medicaid expansion is the reason rural health was expanded so much in the last 15 years. Why is that? Because some reimbursement is still better than $0 reimbursement. If everyone is insured the hospitals are at least getting *something* for services. Instead of a big fat nothing they have to write off.

Why are folks wasting time responding to people best left on ignore?

Single Payer is the way to go despite the bullshit, myths and propaganda coming out of the GOP and foxnews.
The issue is the economic impact of the collapse of the shitty, disjointed, inefficient, profit driven joke of a health system known as "Private Health insurance...US style". The other impact is on drug industry and heath care provider industry having to adjust it's business models.
When Hospitals are used to overcharging in response to Insurance overcharging and Drug companies are used to pricing what ever way the wind turns based on region and everyone is trying to screw everyone because they expect to be screwed. What happens to business models that are based on universal screwing where the lead cock is the private insurance Industry?

That's going to hurt the stock market during the transition and in the United States, nothing gets done that might impact investments.

Pretty much this. Its the whole "just rip the band-aid off" affect. Just rip it, don't pull slowly as it hurts more.

Somebody already generally tells people what to use: employers. It's not like the drones actually get any real say in which health insurance company is selected. There is also nothing stopping my company from changing insurance providers and thus the health networks that we have access to. Exactly the kind of thing Republicans and conservative Dems are trying to scare people into thinking. The socialists are going to take away your favorite doctor...which your employer can already do if they feel like it.

Republicans said the Medicaid expansion would cause mass closures of rural hospitals and clinics. Sure looks like the other way round in practice.

Can't fix stupid. But maybe if it loses access to regionally close health care it will just die and correct itself. This is social darwinism. People voting against their own self interest, access to health care, and jobs beyond waitressing, working for a feed store or Dollar General. But hey, make them libruls cry and keep protecting muh guns and babies!

Isn't that what you guys cry about all the time? You say that there is systematic racism, that cops are just looking for minorities to harass. So if you believe this based on race, then what is wrong with what Trump said? You want it both ways, to claim people are oppressing minorities due to race but that a Mexican judge cannot possibly be bias because of race. You're hypocrites.
Hey Dr. Thesaurus, SYSTEMIC racism does exist in the CJS. Tons of evidence confirms that.

Being a judge is a small part of the system. As a scary dark person how was I able to put my biases aside to serve on a jury?

But somehow only biased white guys are able to perform their duties. Some people only have concern when people of color get in positions of power.

The more I see of Buttigieg, the more I like. He's right to put the emphasis on how the Republicans have broken the government, and the concept of democracy itself, and that takes precedence over some specific policy details that can be easily and soundbited by the lying opposition. I liked Mayor Pete's closing. He even managed to extend a hand to Republicans (hoping they would "reunite with their conscience").

Sanders looked tough, but last night I really felt that he came across as a grouchy old man. His acuity is there, but he just seemed like angry gramps trying to find batteries for his TV remote. Sanders was right most of the time but I don't think anyone wants to have grampa yell at them for the next 4 years.

Once again, Warren looked good. She seemed most ideologically in tune with their audience, who sounded like someone fighting for a cause, and who consequently is getting attention because of it. Williamson seemed in tune. I couldn't help thinking Williamson needs to be somewhere near the White House, just not in the Oval Office. She's definitely the most influential orator of the bunch. But whereas Williamson is probably just a spectacle candidate, Warren is for real. But, I feel as her agenda is not going to resonate with moderates and swing voters.

Delaney, and Ryan can hang it up now -- they are what Republicans/conservatives should be. Hickenlooper has been a great mayor/governor and could make a fine, uniting POTUS. But he just doesn't have "it"

I got a bad feeling tonight is going to be a shit show. Harris and Booker are going to have knives out for Biden and will just come across as petty and distracting from actual content.

So skin color and race matter to you when it is white people, then it is ok to assume things happen that the evidence is shaky for at best. If Trump mentions bias due to race, then you call him Hitler. When you complain of racial bias you think you're a freedom fighter looking for truth. You are such a hypocrite.

Then you want one of the "public option" moderates and not Bernie or Warren.

There are overreaching IMO.
It has been my feeling for several years that healthcare evolution in the USA would be a bumpy road with twists and turns and you won't be able to see around the corner to where we are going. It's in the cards. We are closer now, but far from where you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hold onto your ticket, tuck it in your pocket and hope you stay healthy. Look, all these other developed nations have national healthcare, it's eventually going to come to the USA. But between here and there is a mine field.

The big message I got from last night's debate is that many of the front runners are fine with decriminalizing illegal immigration and offering shiny things to entice people to come here. A recipe for disaster.

The right has become more moderate, the left is leaping to the left so far and so fast that the divide grows, regardless.

I can't believe the fucking president of the USA tweets like this. And his wife promotes anti-bullying.

I mean kids can now say "well the president does this so why can't I?" when they need an excuse for being little assholes.

If you're complaining about an adult that puts out his partisan opinions nightly on a major cable news station being "bullied" then you are too far gone to even see why that is ridiculous. Safe spaces, amirite? How long until you dolts limit free speech to only being able to say nice things? Gotta reduce suicides, right? Ok to limit rights to do so, that's your stance on the 2A.

The more I see of Buttigieg, the more I like.

I agree, and I think his message is the right one to win the primary. I don't know how well it will do in the general election, but I expect his messaging will change then. In general he is going to have to address the economy and foreign policy, something he has not shown a lot of passion for so far. I would like to hear him talk more on those points just so that I can see that he can.

Sanders looked tough, but last night I really felt that he came across as a grouchy old man.
No one, not even Sanders, expects him to win the nomination. He is in this to force the other candidates to discuss his signature issues, and he is doing a pretty good job of it. I expect he will eventually announce his support of one of the other candidates and join their campaign as an ally, perhaps Warren.

Once again, Warren looked good. She seemed most ideologically in tune with their audience, who sounded like someone fighting for a cause, and who consequently is getting attention because of it.

I don't think Warren will get the Presidential nomination, but it might be close. Women are becoming a powerful voting block in the Democratic party. She would be my second choice for the nomination behind Buttigieg right now.

She is my top pick for the VP ticket for anyone but Buttigieg, but if it is him then I don't know. I don't think Warren would be a good match for him. I would say Biden but I don't think he would accept. Maybe someone that has not been on stage at all.

Williamson seemed in tune. I couldn't help thinking Williamson needs to be somewhere near the White House, just not in the Oval Office. She's definitely the most influential orator of the bunch. But whereas Williamson is probably just a spectacle candidate,

I completely agree. This debate might have put her in contention for a VP consideration. I would not be surprised if she gets offered a cabinet level position in a upcoming Democratic administration.

Everyone else on stage last night shouldn't make it to the next round of debates.

She has quite the internet following. And the called Jerry Brown Governor moonbeam.

She was the most searched candidate in 49 states last night. The new Dem darling with her buy-a-vote ways. Gotta give the left some small amount of credit, at least they're being transparent, not even trying to hide their racism and pandering any longer.

Not surprised you completely missed the mark.

The asshole is in a Dem debate thread to troll. He's trump-humper. He doesn't care about the Dems,
or the debate. He's only here to attempt to troll. Nothing more, nothing less.
He is just like these video card/CPU fanboys that go into the competitors
threads, when there is a new release, just to shit on the thread.
They don't want to add anything useful to the conversation. They just want to fuck things up for the rest of the people having discussion.
There's nothing useful to add since they're commited to their "company/side". In this case, trump and the russians.

It's amazing what ignore will do for you. If everyone got a clue, you wouldn't even see the deplorables shit, he would get no responses, and finally leave out of not getting reactions from liberals.

Everything I've ever heard come out of his mouth screams DINO.
