2nd PSP - Unopened

After my first PSP had 4 dead pixels, I'm kind of weary of even opening the second one I picked up yesterday having returned the original unit. I'm thinking of selling it on ebay, but I don't even know if I could make my money back at this point. Anybody had any luck with getting a decent machine without dead pixels, i'm afraid that I won't be able to get a decent model from the store I bought it from and this may force me to sell it. Any suggestions?

You wouldn't make your money back on eBay once you factor in eBay and PayPal fees. You'd be better off keeping it or just outright returning it and getting your money back.

They're awesome units.

agreed love mine... got lucky I guess mine only has 1 pixel that seems to be dead... although it may actually be in the glass overlay itself..

Its a cool unit, but once you factor in the price and all the defects, I think if I this one has dead pixels i'm just gonna get a store credit - I still don't care how great it is, I think its a little ridiculous to spend $50 on portable unit games.

Fifty bucks is definitely too much. $30 to $40 is fine but anymore than $40 is way too much, its not even console.

lol 50 bucks... i spend more than 50 bucks on toothpaste per month....

this stuff costs the same as a big title to develop and publish... these are not console games as they have been in the past...
they have more features and in most cases more levels than the PS2 versions...
this costs money to make.. 50 bucks is nothing in todays economy...
thats not even 1 tank of premium gas for a pickup truck now....

I bought 5 launch titles a PSP and a 1 gig card and I still feel it was a good deal..
the games feel and look better in some cases than thier PS2 counterpart...
and this is first gen stuff.... give the hardware time to mature and well see what this little ah heck is really capable of...

this aint no gameboy son.... if you want cheap lame kiddy games buy a DS...
if you want portable CONSOLE games then buy a PSP..

I returned the first one since it had 4 dead pixels to get a replacement, I haven't opened this one yet.

Have you read that the clock speed is locked in at 222 Mhz to safe some battery life - All I've seen so far are ports of PS2 games, so why would I spend another $50 for the same game I already own? I agree that the "cost" isn't so much of a factor anymore, but in that same course of thinking, then we'll be looking at $100+ per console game as an expected.

its not locked at 222...
it can run up to 333 i think it is...
depending on the game

becasue you cant play your PS2 on the bus or at work or at starbucks...
thats why...
if you already have all the PS2 games and you dont really want to play the games you already have why did you buy one?
there are very few titles that are gonna be "new" just to the PSP...
id love to see a port of that SEAL team game with wireless come out... that would rule...
grand theft auto portable.. definatly sweet...

I work for a large company that does Desktop/phone support for companies all over the world... on PSP launch day there were 20 PSPs in the building here alone =P

we had 8 person twisted metal and ridge racer races all day over wireless...

until you can say youve tried the PSP to its fullest potential you havent seen anything =)

Ports? Lumines, Twisted Metal Head On, all the 989 games (crappy, but still original), Mercury, etc.

Also, the speeds can be unlocked at anytime. I wouldn't be surprised if that's unlocked in the coming years to extend the units life as batteries get better.

So the store will not give you a refund on an unopened product?

I am actually surprised to hear about defects in most of the new systems. Thats just poor quality control from Sony and their manufacturing division.

um if you have ANY LCD screens you have a dead pixel... this is NOT a sony thing.. this is an LCD thing....
i flat out guarantee you have at least 1 dead pixel on any LCD you own...
the reason the are so noticable on the PSP is that the screen is tiny so pixels are much more easy to see...
do some reasearch on dead pixels... they are VERY common on flat screen monitors and Laptop displays over the years... as it has been said before its in the manufacturing process on LCDs its not a perfect science...

It's a statistical thing. Getting 3-4 dead pixels on a screen that small is a little sad.
