"the reason the are so noticable on the PSP is that the screen is tiny so pixels are much more easy to see... "

I am confuesed by this concept.

do some reasearch on dead pixels... they are VERY common on flat screen monitors and Laptop displays over the years... as it has been said before its in the manufacturing process on LCDs its not a perfect science...

It's a statistical thing. Getting 3-4 dead pixels on a screen that small is a little sad.

yah that I do agree with ...

but 1.. I cant even see it except on a black background...
in games and movies it appears normal.. i cant find it even when I know its there...

There's no way I can believe that anyone is "satisfied" with getting a display with dead pixels. I've owned a lot of other portable systems, and never had one dead pixel, I couldn't miss them on the PSP. Really turned me off on this system, god knows what else they cut corners on...

no other portable has a miniature laptop screen in it...
the Nintendo screens are not the same thing....
neither were the atari lynx...

this is the first device this small to use this technology... its the same thing as flatscreen mons and Laptop mons are made of...

do some research this is not a gameboy...

They're awesome units.

i have none on my monitor. i guess i won the lottery then, eh? no thats not right, because people get lcds with no dead pixels all the time. just because its a flaw in the technology doesnt mean people should put up with it when spending hundreds of dollars.

my bud picked up a psp, and he has no dead or stuck pixels. playing wipeout was fun, but nothing i didnt already play 10 yrs ago.

High quality screen, dead pixels part of the "process"...what are you a Sony rep? Really if you love your PSP thats great, I'm just not satisfied with a system thats coming out of the box with defects. I'm sorry but every fade and loading screen drives me nuts with dead pixels all over the screen.

if you have that many that its noticable hell ya replace it...
like I said the 1 pixel i got is in the lower right hand corner and you cant even see it except on a bright white background... why risk getting a worse one next time?

What's your point?
I've had at least 5 laptops with a total of 3 dead pixels across all five. Nearly every single PSP unit coming out of the box with at least 1 dead pixel is simply unacceptable.

The only reason the manufacturing process produces dead pixels is because the manufacturers use a cheaper and less precise process to keep consumer costs down. Making every display perfect is very much a reality. Medical imaging equipment MUST have a perfect display, or major problems can arise.

So sure, the manufacturing process of cheap LCD screens can result in dead pixels, but claming that dead pixels is just an unavoidable side effect of the manufacturing process as a whole, is BS.

I would nto say that EVERY psp is coming with defective screens... there have been over 2 million sold in Japan/USA now and very few complaints.. there were more complaints and returns for stuck buttons than LCDs....

its just the the people that got them are raising a big sh!tfit over it...
its not a BIG deal RMA and get another one.. sony said they would fix it...

thats exactly what sony was banking on. "so what if its 4 dead pixels, its a sony psp! and that makes me cool!"

I've seen quite a few complaints on the internet about it, though I don't pay very close attention because I don't own a PSP. Sure it's easy to RMA, but what kind of message is that sending out to sony consumers?

I was posting with the intention of refuting one of your previous posts...

It IS a perfect science. Making perfect displays is very easy, but more costly. The companies have compromised with the consumers by keeping the costs lower, the margin of error larger and they just warn the consumers that there is a possibility of dead pixels.

I wonder:

Who are these people buying PSPs on Ebay.. I mean, how retarded can they be? Lets pay the same amount that we would pay from store and NOT be able to take it back it if thas 130 dead pixels on it.
