i was wondering if i would be better off to save my self some $$ and get the 2800 but i think that would complicate overclocking (the 10x multiplier is so much nicer) but all in all would they pretty much yield the same results when overclocking?

They are about the same. You just pay a bit extra for the bump in multiplier and mhz for the 3000+ performance is prty much the same.

yeah, the 2800+ 64 seems to be able to achieve the same overclocking speeds as an overclocked 3000+...around 2.4Ghz in most cases, there are exceptions in the OC world, of course. So that said....2800+ is a good deal. I'd say in a non-OCing perspective...the 3000+ is the best bang for the buck cuz you get a crucial 200 Mhz more, but for OCing the 2800+ is the best bang for the buck.

I think the more you can pay, the better, as OC'ing is not only NOY guaranteed, but quite often fails badly. See me other thread to understand.
