2700k or 8350

2700k By a HUGE Land Slide

Would be like comparing a i7 950 to a 2700k Clock for clock.

3.4ghz vs 4ghz.. From following 8350 thread on OCN Most people are only getting the 8350 to 4.8ghz Stable So 800 more mhz OC head room

i7 2700k Are well known to go 4.8ghz - 5.1ghz so lets say 1400 more Mhz of performance or 4.8ghz ghz...

I'd say the 8350 is pretty competitive with the 2500K in some benchmarks, but those are the ones where hyperthreading allows the 2700k to pull away.
 
Microcenter has the 2700k on sale for $229 so it is very close to the price of the 8350. Obviously, the 3770k is newer and faster but is $289. Just thought about changing out one of the 2500k rigs to 2700k vs "upgrading" the 8150 to 8350.

Actually the 3770k is $270 now I think. Because you don't have z77, it's probably not worth it. PCIe 3.0 is the biggest advantage. Overall mostly a sidegrade with either chip, so only do it for fun (if that's what we call hours of tinkering with our computers....)

I would get the screen, sicne it sounds like the biggest beneficial upgrade. But what about the last option, do nothing 😉
 
2700k with 4 cores and 8 threads OCed will slap the sh*T out of amd 8 physical cores..

the processor is 199 and its their top one that tells you how desperate AMD is.
 
Yep, silly me that I didnt notice. Usually US is the one with the deals and my mind didnt think more over it. Bought mine in Denmark for around 625$.

Anyway, with that said. I am sure you can call Dell in the US and still get it for 600$ or less with abit of bargaining.
 
Get the monitor - I have one of the Dell 27" monitors - wish I had the 30" though. Outside of SSD's this is the best money I have ever spent, computer wise.

This monitor is great for excel.

Thanks guskline. The good news is that in the middle of the city, where I live, things will probably be ok. It's folks in the outlying areas who will have to cope with no power and flooding.

It depends what you will primarily use the computer for.
Seems like piledriver will only exhibit performance surpassing 2700k in highly threaded tasks such as video editing/encoding. For all other tasks such as gaming, the 2700k is the clear choice.

You got it wrong brotha 2700K Has HT 4 cores 8 threads.. It will stomp a 8350 in the ground clock for clock no matter what it is.

Not quite true. Not true at all actually.

Please don't start up the pilot light on the flamethrower, I'm not some AMDer, an Inteler, or any manner of fanboy. In highly threaded workloads, Vishera is faster, that said, you pay for it in power usage, just as it will probably be for Haswell vs Steamroller.

Everyone goes bonkers of peak overclock results and benchmarks, but if you are using your computer for work you shouldn't be overclocking. For serious work, stock is what matters.

A 2700k clock for clock... you know that means 4.5ghz 2700k vs 4.5ghz 8350..

The 2700k Destroys it.. it is not even a Contest.

People need to quit looking at those stock benchmarks of a 4ghz 8350 vs a 3.5ghz 2700k and see it beating the 2700k in 2 things by 3 seconds... and say well it beats it in these few things well it has to be pretty good.

Wrong. This is a 2700k Unlocked Processor Which will not only Clock as High as a 8350 but on Avg 200mhz Higher then a 8350.. So Amd is no where in the Ball Park.

I am following the 8350 Club Thread on OCN reading every post And the best 24/7 OC they are getting is 4.8 Ghz and That's not many Most hit a wall at 4.5ghz and just afew higher With Massive volts running At there chips TJMAx..

I don't think it utterly destroys it.. 2700k will beat it in a single threaded situations.

Nice to utterly ignore my point about overclocking isn't for everyone. Sorry, but the Intel chip is not better in every way imaginable. That said if I were going to buy a new processor today, it would most likely be an Ivy bridge. But I am in the market for a new processor, and I am going to wait for Haswell/Steamroller.

Quit deriding people.
