26001 pound truck vs guy on a bicyle

Ok, so I'm driving one of our work trucks. What may be a surprise to you that the clutch slips in every gear comes as no surprise to me. But you never know what you are going to get when you are asked to take out someones truck for the day.

On the way in to the yard; 3pm, rush-hour... another one of those 'I ride my bicycle on the street because..." I'm talking about on a main 4 lane highway with a sidewalk as vacant as the next upcoming Michael Jackson concerts. The man appears to be one of those assholes that have had their license suspended for driving while intoxicated. So 300' behind him I beep the horn to let him know I am coming. I get closer and toot the horn again. As I ride by him we are both crossing a side street that exits to the main road so I have room to get back in to MY fucking lane and out of the lane of the other motorists. As I ride by him, I hear he is calling names because he doesn't know my real name. More like "Fuck you" etc.

If there is a sidewalk, use it. I hope later, while he is in bed tonight for the next day of work he thinks about what would of happened to him if he would of got hit and then ran over by 26,001 pounds and then realizes how stupid it would of been if he would of lived (knowing the sidewalk was empty) ...the rest of his life breathing from a motorized apparatus with no feeling from the neck down like Christopher Reeves did.

I hope I did him a favor.

This is the first time I've thought of Christopher Reeves in like forever.

You are the fucking moron. It is illegal to ride on sidewalks you piece of shit motorist.

Bicycles are afforded equal lane usage rights. Learn to respect the law fucker.

You are aware that it is illegal in most places to ride a bike on sidewalks, aren't you.

If you hit him, you probably would be doing time in the slammer for manslaughter. Seek therapy and learn to share the road with bicyclists.

Laws are not infallible. Which is more sensible: traffic builds up behind a bicyclist going 10 mph under the speed limit, or a bicyclist uses an empty sidewalk to get out of the way? If you go 10 mph under the speed limit in a car, you can be cited for insufficient speed; are bicycles subject to the same law? Common sense should dictate your actions more than adherence to a law that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

See you fucking retard asshole mother fucker, it is illegal to ride on the fucking sidewalk. Bicycles are supposed to control the fucking lane they are in, or else, fucking scumbags like you will whiz past them and force them into the curb. You are in an air conditioned vehicle, they are pedaling their ass off. If anyone has time to wait around, it is your lazy, ignorant ass.

You are the type of person that bugs the fuck out of me while I am riding. You are the reason I always carry a gun with my while riding. I have been hit on purpose before by fucking expendable humans such as yourself. The next time a driver gets out of his vehicle at a stoplight to tell me what i should be doing instead of riding my bicycle on city streets, I am going to pull out my gun and point it square at his fucking face, imagining it was you, and watch the fucker piss and shit his pants, begging me to not end his worthless existence.

FUCK.

Yeah they need to drop that no riding on sidewalk crap. Hardly anyone walks on sidewalks in most places other then the few big cities. Here in KC they are mostly empty all the time. That is where my bike will be illegal or otherwise. Im not taking a chance with other people and heavy vehciles.

Which makes more sense, riding on the street doing 20 mph (what I do) or riding on the sidewalk, which is extremely dangerous when crossing side streets and hitting uneven sidewalk surfaces which could damage my $5,000 bike, and getting a fucking ticket for riding on the sidewalk because impatient fucks forced me onto the sidewalk.

Share the road and shut the fuck up.

FUCK.

when i ride two tires over the next lane and push other cars out of the way to give you ample room to ride the white line of the bicycle lane, dont think you can stick your head into my truck and yell obscenities in my sons face without getting a 9mm barrel in your teeth. pieces of self important shit like you are why i feel like running bicyclists off the road, even tho i give them as much room as possible, despite the fact they are riding like fucking morons.

that said, in az there are bike lanes pretty much everywhere. stay in them or take your life into your own hands. bicycles are considered vehicles on the road here, so if you feel like playing with the big boys on the road, accept the rules and follow them.

Are you a bike messenger? Seriously cause I can't understand why you don't get scared when a huge ass vehicle drives by you and then figure "maybe I should ride on the sidelwalk. But not to continue being an asshole, I guess you ignore that feeling.

Whats funny is its like a chain effect. The pedestrians are afraid of bicyclist riding on the sidewalk. Now, I gotta worry about a bicyclist on the street.

I hope the OP runs the fucker over the next time around. Road mortar ftw!

Riding a bike (pedal power only) has been legal in every city and town I have ever lived in (which is quite a few, greater than 15).

Yes you do. I worry about it all the time, but I deal with it.

Bicyclists should use the sidewalks if they're empty. And if you're holding traffic up on a busy 4-lane/hwy/etc... get the fuck out of the way every once in a while so the 20 cars behind you can get by. I don't think the city/police will fault you for having half a brain and keeping yourself and other motorists safe.

I don't care how many of you are irate cyclists pissed off because someone clipped you with their mirror or something. Sucks to be you, sorry. But I've seen too many dick cyclists who think they own the road and have the right to do whatever the fuck they want including blow through four-way stops and jump across lanes without warning.

No-Sidewalk riding laws are retarded and you can be damn sure if I'm on MY bike during rush hour I'm gonna be on the sidewalk unless I've got a big-ass bike lane.

My biggest cyclist pet-peeve is idiots who ride the INSIDE line of their bike lane. You've got 3+ fucking feet of pavement and you're in MY lane? Fuck you if you get clipped.

Keep in mind, I live in a VERY bicycle friendly city with MILES AND MILES of bike lanes and EVERY OTHER car has a biking bumper sticker or custom cyclist license plate, and despite the city catering to cyclists and erasing much needed parking for bike lanes, I still see cyclists everywhere abuse the fact that just cause they're on a bike, everyone else has to watch out for THEIR ass and not the other way around.
