Nice, wish me dead! That's the thing to do in this situation.
You bring a negative benefit to the world. You're a angry misled pathetic individual. Seriously. You carry a GUN while riding around TOWN. That says it all.
Yes, people get mugged and killed on Town Lake and Katy Trail. It is common enough to warrant carrying a concealed handgun.
By your twisted idea of what is "legal", this would be legal:
50 riders, riding single file, in the middle of the lane, on a two-lane road, regardless of the speed limit. Thus, making it essentially impossible for any cars to pass.
In fact, that would be legal. I have ridden in three bike tours this summer, and each of them where on open-to-vehicle roads. And now that you bring it up, there were 700 riders! Some of them riding two abreast! On the other tour, it was 900 riders! Also riding two abreast!
And want to know who SAG'd our ride? That is, who gave us food and water on 100 mile days? The State Police. Yes, the Oklahoma State Patrol sanctioned that ride. You think they would sanction an illegal ride with dirty bikers blocking the road? My "twisted" idea of legal happens to be the law. Your "twisted" idea of illegal may get you in trouble.
And don't give me this BS about riding at an average speed of 20-25 MPH. Uphills too, right? Believe in Santa clause, too?
I am training for amateur bike racing. I should start CAT 5 racing at the start of next season. I have ridden roughly 2000 miles this summer, since finishing this year of law school. Just because you cannot sprint 25 to 30 mph does not mean that others cannot. I am not claiming to average 30 mph for 130 miles as professional cyclist do. I can easily interval at 30 mph, sprinting from stop to stop.
Oh, and you are just another douche for riding a race-oriented bike on the streets. If you rode the type of bike you are SUPPOSED to be riding for our road conditions, it wouldn't be any trouble at all to ride closer to the edge, on sidewalks, or even on dirt.
So now you think it should be illegal to ride a road bike on the street, but a slower, clunkier cruiser would be perfectly acceptable? I ride what I race. It is called training. I also ride a touring bike with full panniers when I go to the grocery store.
But deluded douche bags like you think that because some bikes are called "road bikes", that those are what you are supposed to ride on the road. NEGATIVE. I laugh at all the wanna-be losers riding road bikes on crappy streets and swerve all over the road trying to avoid every little crack, pebble, pothole, and rock.
Keeping proper tire pressure will drastically reduce the likelihood of a flat. I only swerve around potholes if the coast is clear and the pothole would damage my wheel set.
Cycling is great, and efforts should be made to make cities more cycling friendly. But most of our road system (USA) is NOT setup with cyclists in mind.
So bicycles should be outlawed? Don't bike because the roads were not designed with cyclists in mind? What about the original road infrastructure? They were designed with horses in mind, yet Model Ts started using them. Eventually, the transportation infrastructure changed to accept these new motor vehicles.
Same with bicycles. Though the current bicycle lane is in fact more dangerous that controlling a lane, it is a misguided step forward to integration.
Causing automobile traffic grief because you refuse to accept the current reality makes YOU the wanker. The wheels of the world can't stop turning because some idiot wants to ride his stupid $5000 bike down the middle of the road.
P.S. In case you didn't know, everybody hates you. In class, at work, you name it.
How nice! Thanks 1 post coward. I shall slit my wrists now.
