http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813157092RHey for $26.99 what do you expect, if it works, its a steal.

i purchased 2 to hopefully be sure i get one that works, and if the yboth work i am sure i can resell one for more than i paid for it. or keep it for back up rig.

i now will have upgarded to conroe E6300 from a Opty 165 at 2.4ghz and put some money in my pocket too, as i can use my same ram, my opty sold for $165.00, amd DFi ultra board sold for $75.00, so i will be about $50.00 ahead, and even at stock the e6300 outperforms the the opty 165 at 2.4ghz.

amd this board will hold me over till the $250.00 975x boards come down to like $125.00 or so.

Wow, that's a good deal. I'm using one of these now and they are pretty decent for the money... and even better with this deal. 😛

are these things better than the ECS mobos that Frys always throws in with their Conroe deals?

ECS P4M800 Pro

Frys basically throws in this mobo for free when you buy Conroe chips

from what I hear, ECS is junk

My ecs deal worked just fine.
Till it didn't. It lasted about 1 yr then I had to get a shuttle MB. There is no motherboard as precision manufactured as ECS. No one else can make such a highly technical, perfectly functioning product that can crap out exactly as the warranty finishes. Car battery companies do it but but batteries are simple.

ECS and tyan make 95% of server and oem boards. They are also one fo the few manufactuers that actually make their own boards. All manufactueres design boards If i recall though only about 4 of them actually peice them and make them the others are farmed out to various companies.

...so... this is a good thing?

ECS is crap. Don't do it. They don't support their own boards AT ALL.

this guy knows what hes talking about. My PCIe bus burned out of my 939 board back when i was using it... they told me to flash the bios and wouldnt fix/replace it (at 2 months old)

thanks for the advice, I'll just go with Asrock and fork over $60 to save myself some headache.

I've also heard some pretty bad stuff about Newegg OEM merchandise too... smart move buying 2 mobos and hoping that one works

it is a pretty ncie board, i used one myself for 2 weeks before i decide to jump to a ds3 for more customization and mroe ram support. I got one fs on my fs/ft tread if anyone is interested

dang...I thought you meant you had it cheap in the FS/FT forum =( but it's twice the price.

*sigh* I'm missing out on everything tonight, by the time I added the P180B the stupid free shipping was over (even though it still shows free shipping it's not working) and I miss this deal too.

This would have been perfect since I'm basically trying to wait out the DDR2 price spike, and I could just run my 2GB of PC3200 I have until then.

Dammit!!!

EDIT: seems to work now, wierd
EDIT 2: it's open box, AGP, PCI-E x16 , DDR1/DDR2

Fixed 🙂

fixed 🙂

Fixed again 🙂

the specs for the mobo that was originally linked in this post definitely did NOT have PCI-E x16, only PCI-E x4... so, either we're discussing diff mobos or you misread...

I have been buying Fry's CPU/ECS combos for years, definitly more than a dozen. I know everyone rags on ECS but I have not had those problems. Grandkids, nieces, nephews all over the country are using those systems that I built and some are several years old. My first one was an ECS/ AMD X1800, how long ago was that?

I have had an Asus and MSI board die on me, never an ECS. One board was DOA out of the box, and one the onboard sound died, that is all.

You can't beat the price, even the raid 1 works well and easy setup on the X2 3800 I am using that is only about a monthg old. If you really want to tweek things maybe it is not the best board, but to just setup stock and run it I have no complaints.

Try a combo for yourself first, you can always get a different board later if you don't like it. I think sometimes it is just popular to critisize? something whether you have experianced it or not.

For value you can't beat the Fry's ECS combos!
