My MSI K7T Turbo 2 board died a month after the 3 year warranty. I was pissed. Tech support didn't make any exception in my case and was left crying alone.

It would be no surprise to me if manufacturers implement a hidden code in the bios that triggers a catastrophic meltdown like overvoltage, at the end of the warranty period. I would fvcking sue their buttox if I find out.

I had a completely different experience with MSI, as did my Bro-in-Law. I had an old K7T board die on me (kids' comp). Mine was two years out of warranty when it died. It wasn't the capacitor issue...they were fine. I called MSI up and they gave me an RMA and had me ship it back. They replaced it free! My Brother in law had 2 MSI boards that were way out of warranty (2+ years) and they died. His was the capacitor issue. They gave him RMA #'s and he shipped them to MSI. They emailed him and told him they didn't have any of the older boards that were identical so they asked him which of the not-so-old boards he wanted to replace them with. He picked 2 and they sent them out. We are both very happy with MSI. I'm sorry your experience was so bad.

...newbozo 🙂
