256MB PC100 $159 ... dang!

Wow cheap! I paid more for that for a few sticks of 128 PC133 memory a couple of months ago! But still PC100. Probably some very old 10ns stuff too. If so, it's definately not worth it, just cough up the extra to get faster and higher quality memory.

Incompatible Chipset:

Intel 430 VX, TX, 440 LX, BX, i810, i815, i820 Chipsets.
VIA Apollo, ALi etc.

----

you've got some major problems with this memory if it doesn't support the LX and BX chipsets!

I've found BX chipsets can handle any RAM I've used. Is this just a question of it not being 'officially' listed as approved, or does registered RAM really require this level of specificity?

This wont work in BX chipsets... plain and simple.
Works fine in my VIA and, while it "worked" in my BP6 (R.I.P.) it only registered as 128MBs

WTF

ASUS A7V Issues

1.Your CPU temperature should be lower than 60C

2.Your BIOS version must be 1003 or 1004A (recommended)

3.Diamond MX300 and Aureal 3D Sound Card are not compatible with A7V

4.AGP setting must be matched with your Video Card. (2x or 4x)

5.Try Normal setting not Optimal setting in the BIOS.

6.Try manual setting for CPU speed.

7.Install VIA 4-in-1 driver.

8.Download latest driver for Promise controller from www.asus.com.tw/products/motherboard/socketA/a7v/index.html

9.Put your Sound Card in 3rd PCI slot.

The incompatibility of the MX300 or Aureal cards with the A7V is not true. Some of them may not work with other hardware, and certain configurations. Mine works just fine. Just posting to make the wary consumer aware that they DO infact work together.

A7V 1004C
Duron 700@900
MX300
ATI Radeon 32DDR
ATI AIW
Intel Pro/100 NIC
Maxtor 40gig 7200rpm ATA100
Plextor 8/4/32
Mitsumi 48x

Lemme tell you guys to NOT buy this ram, it's terrible quality.
The computer store i work for has ordered this stuff before for system builds, and
it didn't work with 3/4th of the systems, and even when it did, it had failed a couple
times after a couple of weeks. SyncMAX ram is plain and simple junk, i wouldn't pay $100 for
this ram! just a helpful warning 🙂

Funny... mines been running in my Asus P3xV4 at 140Mhz for about 2months now without any problems....

As Krusty would say: "I whole hearedtly endorse this event and/or product"
