I wound up making a microcenter run the other day for the 2550k $150+tax after facebook coupon. I needed a cpu to test a MB I got back from RMA and didn't wanna tear down my main rig. I also had the $15 off any purchase coupon which I used on a couple of other things I needed.
Google doesn't seem to come up with much more than it's a dud 2500k or don't get the 2550k get the 2500k. I didn't find alot about overclocking results. Didn't see much mentioned about it around here. Just a scattered post here and their.
Yanked out my 2700k and replaced it with this 2550k <--- I'm a water baby
This looks to be what it takes to be stable under extreme loads. Close to my 1.4v cutoff....Hmm debating 24/7 useability
Might have found somewhat of a compromise for 24/7 use. Still in the testing phase but it is IBT stable so far. Not sure if I can somehow drop the vcore more yet or not. All voltages on auto except for the vcore as I'm using offset voltage.
Didn't try pushing the chip hard as I figure my motherboard will go before the chip does. Looks like up to the 54x multiplier is useable
Only testing done at 54x was some CPUmark99 runs for the other thread. Loaded vcore during the testing was around 1.48v's as it's a light hitter by todays standards....But does look to give somewhat of a performance idea compared to the cpu of yesteryear!
Purchased the protection plan today and felt like getting a little crazy for a little bit. Didn't do any real demanding testing but wound up getting the 55x multiplier to work!
Not sure if the chip is completely tapped out but my nerves are at least! Was more scared my motherboard was gonna blow a cap as it's not really designed to run under such extreme clocks....Well based on price anyways I wouldn't think so.
