2550k overclocking results in. Anybody else try one out? 55x works!

I wound up making a microcenter run the other day for the 2550k $150+tax after facebook coupon. I needed a cpu to test a MB I got back from RMA and didn't wanna tear down my main rig. I also had the $15 off any purchase coupon which I used on a couple of other things I needed.

Google doesn't seem to come up with much more than it's a dud 2500k or don't get the 2550k get the 2500k. I didn't find alot about overclocking results. Didn't see much mentioned about it around here. Just a scattered post here and their.

Yanked out my 2700k and replaced it with this 2550k <--- I'm a water baby :)

This looks to be what it takes to be stable under extreme loads. Close to my 1.4v cutoff....Hmm debating 24/7 useability

Might have found somewhat of a compromise for 24/7 use. Still in the testing phase but it is IBT stable so far. Not sure if I can somehow drop the vcore more yet or not. All voltages on auto except for the vcore as I'm using offset voltage.

Didn't try pushing the chip hard as I figure my motherboard will go before the chip does. Looks like up to the 54x multiplier is useable :D

Only testing done at 54x was some CPUmark99 runs for the other thread. Loaded vcore during the testing was around 1.48v's as it's a light hitter by todays standards....But does look to give somewhat of a performance idea compared to the cpu of yesteryear!

Purchased the protection plan today and felt like getting a little crazy for a little bit. Didn't do any real demanding testing but wound up getting the 55x multiplier to work!

Not sure if the chip is completely tapped out but my nerves are at least! Was more scared my motherboard was gonna blow a cap as it's not really designed to run under such extreme clocks....Well based on price anyways I wouldn't think so.

I doubt that is going to be stable at 1.4v but heh you might have got lucky, fingers crossed for you.

Will keep an eye on the thread for updates.

Shhh....It's my B-Day today so here's hoping :D

Swapped the chips out. Left it at my 4.2ghz overclock for my 2700k for initial bootup. Some thermal compound break in somewhat.

My 2700k overclocked on the low end at very low voltages.

Currently 4.2ghz @ 1.224v's(loaded) temps in low 50's in IBT :)

Currently 4.4ghz @ 1.224-1.23v's(loaded) just upped the multiplier to 44x no voltage change.

After playing around for a couple of days it looks like it needs a slight voltage bump to get stability at 5ghz!

Seems to have about the same power profile as my 2700k as far as vcore/overclock. It's slightly better in the low end as I'll get about an xtra .1ghz along the line but then falls into about the same as you get to around 4.8ghz. On the flipside it'll boot into windows with 54x multiplier. I didn't do any stress testing as I didn't wanna pump the vcore/load at 5.4ghz other than a couple of quick CPUmark99 :)

I'll update the thread with the what I needed to get X.Xghz later

The 2550k looks to be the best bang for buck chip I purchased so far thanks to the microcenter deal.

Damn nice OC. But I wonder how repeatable it is with other 2550k's. You just may have an exceptional chip that others may not be able to get.

That's an amazing OC. However booting into Windows and showing a splash screen of it is one thing. Having a stable 24/7/365 machine is another. Now run Intel burn test at least 5 runs and prime95 at least 8 hours to see if it is stable. I know my OCs below are.

The odds of me getting the only good 2550k are slim to none. Would be nice for me but it's highly improbable. It's always a YMMV thing.

Searching google for results I'm starting to wonder if even bulldozer is outselling the 2550k

Hmm....Sorry but it's not a boot into windows for the screen shot thing. Already did the IBT testing. That shot was about 3hrs into prime when taken :)

The 5ghz overclock may take a tiny bit of more tweaking to be rock solid. I'm still debating if I wanna run it 24/7 with that vcore.

I'm currently playing around in the ultra-concervative 4.6ghz zone while I decide :)

Not that this means anything but what does the WEI report the 2550k at stock and an average OC at about 4.4ghz?

I get 7.5 @ stock and 7.6 at 4.2-4.4ghz

Then that cpu is a KEEPER!

Yep....Got my 2700k on craigslist with a spare MB already. 2700k overclocks similar but I don't need the raw power!

Stock? 4.6ghz gets me a 7.7 which ties my SSD for low score :(

That's great news, I just picked one of these up today. Manager guy said the offer was no good anymore then proceeded to write me up some kind of slip and gave me the price anyway :hmm:. Should be up and running monday or tuesday, I'll post my results as well.

These kinda look to be Intels red headed step child for some reason....No offense to anybody reading this that has red hair :)

Make sure you post your results after you have it up and running. I doubt I got the only good overclocker!

Not sure how accurate or telling that WEI score is.

My 2500K maxed at 5.1GHz didn't go past 7.7. My 2600K at 4.5GHz doesn't go past 7.7 either lol.

My 2600k at 4.3 gets 7.8 :) at 4.2 it is 7.7. Not tried Wei higher than 4.3

WEI is not an accurate measurement for performance which you guys already should know.

It's hit and miss as far as scores and will very even with identical systems.

What's that good for like 7ghz? :p I'll post max when I'm sure temps are ok.
