wow such gains.

tbh i can't tell the difference in gta v between a 4.5ghz 4790k and sli 980's vs a 2600k at 4ghz with crossfire 7970's on a 2560x1440 monitor.

of course i turn on vsync....

In the video I recall showing a difference, FPS drops below 60 didn't happen everywhere. Only very intensive locations, so you need to find a spot one of those spots where you can test the difference.

Be warned, once you find those spots, you can't go back to your ignorance, it might start to nag at you.

Well, it runs worse than Witcher 3 on my low end system. And the graphics are worse than DA:I or W3 aslo, but that kind of fits with the post-apocolyptic theme.

The problem with FO4 is that it is very inconsistent. In W3 or DA:I, I could only get 30 to 35 FPS with my HD7770, but it was pretty consistent over the entire game. FO4, no matter how low I set it, runs decent in most areas, but then I get hitching and slowdowns that make the game almost unplayable for short periods, and it doesnt even seem to be maxing out either cpu or gpu when this happens.

I'll chime in since I have a i7-6700K, and recently upgraded from a i5-3570K on my gaming rig.

The small die size combined with overclocking and high stock voltages on most 6700K samples means you need to not be afraid of "modding" to get adequate cooling. I was getting spikes of up to 86C just doing some Intel XTU stress testing... at stock speeds/voltages!

With some cooling tweaks and an undervolt/OC to 4.5GHz it's quite a bit nicer, but if I had to do it over again I'd just buy a 5820K or similar and OC it to 4.2GHz+.

If I had a 2500K/3570K that wasn't a total dud in OCing I'd stick with that. There is no bang for the buck in my 6700K purchase, even if it is appreciably better than my 4.1GHz OC'd 3570K was.

I get the IPC gains would be a nice improvement but it hasn't quite reached the level to where I want to upgrade. I want more than 4 cores, but I don't want to get haswell-e at this point, I don't want a silly thermal paste between my cpu and IHS, and I'm only a mid range gamer who plays on a 60 inch TV and mid sized surround sound system, so the extra demands of higher res aren't needed. Having put in a lot of time with fallout 4 lately I'd say you best invest in a solid state drive because the loading times between scenes are the most frustrating thing for me.. I've had no problems with FPS and amazingly not a single crash to desktop and also no slowdowns anywhere.. pretty consistent FPS fwiw.
