My Nforce2 board doesn?t even say it supports 200FSB but i can overclock my 2500+ up to that speed no problem

I haven?t seen 1 person in these forums here who hasn?t overclocked there Bran new 2500+ up to 200FSB 3200+ with an Nforce2 board

but i haven?t heard of a single person overclocking there 2500+ up to 3200+ with a KT600

Get an Nforce2 board with a 2500+ CPU and you will get 3200+

KT600 doesn?t overclock as well as Nforce2 boards get over it everyone else knows this why wont you accept it.

You could of also got a Athlon XP 2500+ that was backstock and from when the CPU first came out so it overclocks crap.
My First overclock was an Athlon 800 to 900 linking the level 1 cache with a 6H pencil ;) ...
End of story
tons of people run a 2500+ at 3200+ speed with a kt600

ive setup 4 or 5 asus a7v600 (kt600) with barton 2500+ running 3200+ with just a fsb increase to 200mhz (this is all totally in spec for the kt600 chipset and its not a difficult overclock at all)

get a clue before spreading all that FUD

his problem isnt that hes running a kt600 based board, its that hes running a kt600 based board that doesnt have good overclocking features

and even though its true that the kt600 doesnt have agp/pci lock, when running at 200mhz fsb everthing is in spec (ie. pci=33mhz agp=66mhz)

and i have no idea why he is using the "wire trick" all he needed to do was set the fsb to 200mhz in the bios ??

I'm not sure I'm comfortable with 40/80 on the PCI/AGP.... I'll have to try it out and see how it works.

you sure about running a 2500+ at 200mhz will run a kt600 board 33/66?? he stated that he did a wire trick to fool the mobo that a 2500+ is a 200bus so that when he runs it a 3200+ speed, he runs at 33/66. if he didn't do wire trick, he stated if he upped his 2500+ to 200mhz, he will run out of spec, 40/80.

great, now i have you that says it runs in spec just fine at 400, and blvdking that says he needed to trick his mobo to oc to 400speed. grrrrrrrr.......

huh?!?! 40 pci is too high, gonna get HD corruption, unless you have a super great HD that could take it, doubt it

I have a gigabyte, he has an asus. The highest I have ever gone for a long period of time is 37.5 PCI - 5 years.

yeah im sure that the kt600 supports 200mhz fsb (with the pci and agp totally in spec)
and yes, as long as you get a decent board with decent overclocking features its easy as pie to run an xp2500+ on a 200mhz fsb (turning it into an xp3200+) its just a matter of going into the bios and setting the fsb at 200mhz.... the pci is 33mhz and the agp is 66mhz

sounds like his board just doesnt have the features needed to really overclock the cpu

True so true. Oh well, as soon as I get the laptop I've been wanting then this will be my experimental Linux machine.

ive also used both abit and soltek kt600 boards, they also both had no problems overclocking the xp2500+ to 200mhz fsb (both have full range of multiplier adjustment, and even though they dont have agp/pci lock they have the dividers that keep everything in spec as long as you run the fsb at 100, 133, 166, or 200,

the system im currently using is an asus a7v600 running a xp2500+ at 11.5 x 200mhz and its totally stable :)

not bad for a mobo that only cost $35 from the newegg refub section

Honestly before today I was a doubter on the 2500->3200 overclock. My dad has one and I tried a little oc on it and it could only make it to 2800+, upping the voltage would do nothing. Today I got a retail axda from newegg and I'm currently running it at 3200+ speeds. At default voltage prime 95 had one error, didn't crash or anything, just had an error and stopped. So I upped the voltage to 1.7 and now it seems to be fine. Pretty neat stuff. Not bad for 90 bucks.
