after a rather hearty pancake breakfast, I shall endeavor to go obtain pics of said parking location.

Until you go down there and find that a sign was put up. ;)

I'd just take it down again :p

RCW 46.61.581
Disabled persons' parking spaces -- Indication, access -- Failure, penalty.

*** CHANGE IN 2005 *** (SEE 1711-S.SL) ***

A parking space or stall for a disabled person shall be indicated by a vertical sign, between thirty-six and eighty-four inches off the ground, with the international symbol of access, whose colors are white on a blue background, described under RCW 70.92.120 and the notice "State disabled parking permit required."

Failure of the person owning or controlling the property where required parking spaces are located to erect and maintain the sign is a class 2 civil infraction under chapter 7.80 RCW for each parking space that should be so designated. The person owning or controlling the property where the required parking spaces are located shall ensure that the parking spaces are not blocked or made inaccessible, and failure to do so is a class 2 civil infraction.

[1998 c 294 § 2; 1988 c 74 § 1; 1984 c 154 § 4.]

Oh that's awesome, so not only are you not guilty but they're guilty of a civil infraction. Haha. :)

I'm often at Seattle Center and have zero desire to take up a disabled parking spot. The thought just never enters my mind. I don't mind walking -and- I had 45 minutes or so to get to the Center House (I could crawl from my car and still be fine time-wise). Will normally park on Roy St. a block north of the center, but can find street parking (particularly just past 6pm) over by the Children's Theatre. I seriously thought my only concern was the hydrant.

Will be heading back up to town to get pics. Drove by there (minus camera, D'oh!) and sure enough, still an empty post in front of the space I was in. must... have... pics (whatever good that does).

It's on a city street as far as I know.

Having pics is a great way to PROVE that the spot was not marked.

You better get that picture quickly, just in case. Because if I read that law right, iwearnosox is correct. ;)

Well, if I go the dispute hearing route, I can bring in witnesses, and I know of at least a couple people there that saw where I was parked.

if it's worth it for you to go in, plead, get a date, go back another day and contest the ticket then go for it.

it's up to you, for me time is money so i would probably pay

pictures and a witness will go far. Worth all of the hassle for a 250 fine, and the person who wrote the ticket should be disciplined for wasting time. I have a handicapped bro and am a bit of a parking nazi, but the ticket should have never been written without the sign.

Well, the only other side to this (that I can see as yet), is if the one sign was meant to represent the entire length from driveway to hydrant (2 car lengths)

Wow, a lot of boners here must work for government or know someone who does. Look at all the idiots who voted to "pay up".

That is never the case. When you pull into a store parking lot, there is one sign per spot. Same goes for city streets.

I'd say that's all well and good, but on my way to highway 99 I took a look at some of the yellow-curbed loading zones on the streets and saw one sign per up to 2 or 3 car lengths. Definitely hoping that the sign is missing and that I can get out of it. $250 stings a bit much. At times that's as much as I'll make in 2 weeks of work.

I was going to say the same thing.... no sign = improperly marked.
Fight it.

(wow, that's twice in one day, and as far as I remember, the only time I've told someone to fight the ticket. Normally I just flame them like everyone else in here for being an idiot.)

If there is no sign on that post, you can fight and win. I know people who have fought stuff that says "No parking" but the sign is either really faded or blocked by trees and they win them all the time.

Here's a couple views of where I was parked. I would be in the same spot as the third white car back.

Would anybody change their vote, given the circumstances in the pics?

Ok, so the hearing was postponed until today at 4pm. I have a show at 2, then race to the courthouse.

Which of these pics would you print and bring with you?
