END OF FEBRUARY RELEASE

Moderator - Not sure if this goes into Hot Deals or under hardware and technology but based on price I felt here was more appropriate. Set what you think is best.

To Answer a few questions its actually a pretty capable PC that can run on batteries. I recommend Watching the video about 1/3 of the way down the page on the link above.

What’s a Raspberry Pi?
The Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer that plugs into your TV and a keyboard. It’s a capable little PC which can be used for many of the things your desktop PC does, like spreadsheets, word-processing and games. It also plays high-definition video. We want to see it being used by kids all over the world to learn programming.

HDMI Output, Movies, Music, Games, Emulators, Etc. I would suspect XBMC would run on it.

By my $5 watch I can reliably tell that the $25 mini-PC's time has come! 😛

ive been waiting all summer. audio jukebox is the first thing that comes to mind, but also diy picture frames, skype server, and even cheap htpc's are going to be possible

this is the best part of raspberry pi-

"We can't make any money out of this, we have no incentive to keep the design of the device secret," he said adding that he sincerely hoped third parties would be able to manufacture clones.

"We would like nothing more than some company in China to make a million of these. It would be perfect, we would achieve our goal, which is ubiquitous presence of cheap computers," he explained.

This is awesome. It's like living in a sci-fi novel. Go ARM!

Wow, this thing is amazingly cool. Much cooler in the video than my ARM "CVS Netbook", which kind of left me with a bad impression of ARM platforms. It was cheap, but it was slow, and very very limited compared to a real IBM-Compatible PC.

At least this thing seems to be able to play 1080P video. My CVS Netbook, had a "Special" (as in, Special Olympics) YouTube app, and it played the videos at something like 160x120 resolution. Videos with long titles, that the video-player app would scroll back and forth, would cause the actual video to drop frames.

If I could set my mom up with one of these as a working PC, allowing her to get on the internet, and watch online videos, and DVD discs, then it would be perfect.

That'd be the perfect network watchdog box for server reporting - cheaper than a Pogoplug!

this is going to be awesome LOL

can't wait for the final version.

os on the SD card I can't see this going for $35 but I sure hope so..
will they have a little enclosure?
