My status is "CBO" which means backorder... Ben from bensbargains says that OM is clearing these out, so backorders probably won't be shipped.. My scheduled delivery is 12-5-01. Can anyone confirm that I will or will not recieve this? 😱

Dolmite69,

I posted earlier in this thread part of my conversation with an OM CSR....He confirmed that they were clearing them out from the ONLINE warehouses.....the stores will carry them but not online so if CBO, then probably won't get one. 🙁

<< Why do this deal when you can get the Lite-On 24X at Newegg for $100 shipped. You don't have to hope and pray that you receive your rebate. >>

Probably for the cheap-asses who want to save the $35 bucks. Hey, I'd like to save that much if I knew the rebate had a decent chance of coming through. Heck, even the $25 off coupon saves you over Newegg.

BTW, are you the Fastball who bought those Klipsch ProMedia speakers from me?

Liteon will work with clonecd...this is an excellent drive...as long as Cendyne still uses Liteon..Hival used Liteon but has gone too Aopen as well....

i am confident the rebate will come, as long as you follow the instructions to the letter.

it says on the rebate form that if you don't get your rebate within 12 weeks to call 1-877-580-3348. at least they give a number to call. sounds good to me.

can't wait for my drive to arrive. hehe it will be my first burner. i got lots of porn, i mean, music to back up.

Gee, if it does not say Smart-X on box should I still buy it! I thought it should be worth $64.99 no matter who made it!

I just picked up the last one at my B&M. When I came in with the printout from OfficeMax.com, I was directed to the store policy that states that OfficeMax will NOT matching their online store price. But...then the manager picked up the store ad, and it was the same $109.99-$20 rebate, LOL.

My drive IS a Lite-On drive, but says "Smart-Burn", not "Smart-X". Doesn't matter to me though; I'm not using it on a PC - I'm using a real computer - a Macintosh G4 🙂

GREAT --- that is what the reviewer said SMART BURN not "X" as I mistakenly stated before - Thank God! That's a goody! Now hope mine will be the same - ordered one to be delivered 12/5. ENJOY the Christ-mas Present!

I called the csr earlier also and told me the same as above, it was a clear out and if your order was labeled as not in stock it would not come in so you would not get it. She did check my local store for me and I went and picked one up. I had a coupon for $30 off of $150. I picked up 2 of the $14 cd-roms and a little more to get to $150. When I got to the checkout, the cashier realized (I didn't) that it was outdated. The manager took it anyway. Now thats why I like to shop there. So, I got it for $109-$20(mir)-$30coupon=$59. I am as happy as a drunk in a wine barrel. They also took a staples coupon the day after thanksgiving. So if you have to buy at the B&M print out someone elses coupon for in store purchase and try it.

I just installed mine and my computer says it is a lite-on ltr-24102b. Once again I am as happy as hundred dollar bill in a whore house.

It appears the AT effect has ocurred again..the website says this is no longer available...I want to repeat if without $25 off..this is still a very good deal at the B&M..for $89.99 after MIR

I went to the B&M to grab one this morning...got the last one. Even without the online coupon, it's a fantastic deal. Came home, opened the box and PRESTO I have a Lite-On 24x, stamped right on the drive itself. Already installed it and I've been using it for 3 hours solid ripping and burning (all the while leering at my old HP 4x on the table next to me). All in all, a great deal. Now to burn me some music for my Xbox Drive and game soundtracks...

OK, here is what happened to me.

I talked to OM a few times and they said it was store only. I asked about $25 off $100 for web purchase and they said it was not a store thing...BUT, it was up to store manager.

I called an OM not far from me and they would not do the $25 off. However, I called a different store and they told me to bring in the printout...the manager said OK as he still had 4 left.

I got it for the 109-25-20 or $64.99 as Oregon has No Sales Tax!

I saw the Smart Burn on the box (not Smart-X) but got it anyway. NOW I see the review that stated (and scanned the label) saying it says Smart Burn Technology!!

If system sees it as Lite-on, then stuff like CloneCD should be OK. I wonder if ezcdc 4 or Fireburner likes it?

Anyway...lesson was to keep asking. Then I went to Frys and got 10x cd/rw media. 5 for $3.95 in cases. Also got 5 for $4.95 in cases but it rang up as $3.45!

...also, the Cendyne site has new firmware for the drive. Anyone know if "ours" already has the latest firmware?

I noticed that Liteon has a recent firmware update for the LTR-24102b - I assume it works on the Cendyne 24/10x40 ?

http://www.liteonit.com.tw/e-down-f.asp

Does anyone know where I can get the cendyne for less then $97 (with MIR $20 rebate it would equal cost of the Lite -on LTR-24102b for $77 @ http://www.nexthardwareshop.com/liton24retbo.html) ?

Free shipping would also be nice (seems like theOfficeMax deal is dead - not availble any longer).

thanks for any leads

<< don't you have to wonder about any top 5 list that doesn't include the plextor 24x10x40?

Like I said, I'm not one to swear by everything I read at PC World but the review for the Plex 24x is here. In their tests it generally just doesn't perform as well as other 24x drives. I didn't read it all the way through but it wouldn't surprise me if they dinged it because of the software package. EZ CD Creator just isn't the most exciting choice of software bundles. Since there are no points in the review for having a good name on the box, it didn't make the cut. From the reviews I have read there they have a pretty narrow focus for scoring the products which helps to minimize reviewer bias but also eliminates more subjective factors.

<< could someone post the link for the Cendyne MIR $20 rebate - can't seem to locate it

thanks

Rebate Link.

For future reference, OM rebate page is way down the home page right side titled "Mail-In Rebates".
