alright.. insanity... simply put..
however, I want to know how the hell you guys play doom3, the demo F.E.A.R with max setting?
its incredibly smooth, grapfix is insane but so hard for me to control with this monitor!
I play FPS alot and I do decent with the 15'' viewable monitor but this monitor, I have more room to look around and whatnot..
But trying to pinpoint for a headshot or in doom3 manuever around yet still have my cursor on the enemy is nearly impossible now.

I do feel a huge performance, upgrade boost but I just dont know how you guys can play it like that!

or maybe something im doing wrong...
F.E.A.R demo

1600x1200

antispo... x16
and the other is x4
everything set to maximum...

so hard for me to get the cursor on the enemy and my sensativity on the cursor is very low....

I was having the same problem in DoD:S too where I had initially had it at 1920x1200 and couldn't hit ish. I then turned it down to 720p widescreen and my aim improved dramaticly. I could now hit someone from across the map. I did give up on the visual qualities but I'd rather get more kills than having the game look good.

Its seriously about practice. When I started playing DOD:S I couldn't "hit ish" either.

True that practice helps but after playing it at a lower resolution, I was getting kills in the 30-40 for a 3v3, 30 minute round. Before changing the res, I had to be on the ball just to get half that many kills.

You should be running that monitor at 1920x1200

That's weird. To me, a higher resolution makes me aim better, especially in CS:S and BF2 (you can see far enemies more clearly).

When I game at 30" in FPS, I am normally beat pretty bad. It is almost too much screen area to cover in a fast paced shooter.

I am fairly sure that competitive gamers play FPS gamers at 800x600.

Crazy high resolutions are for eye candy, not for competitive gaming.

yea, competitive gamers play at 800x600...but isn't that only to get the maximum amount of fps? I never knew that higher resolutions can affect your gaming...just thought you had to get used to

That's what I think as well; all the competitive gamers that I've seen play at lowest settings possible and 800x600 to get the highest FPS.

I find the 2005fpw to be 'just right'. The 2405fpw is HUGE - the 4" makes a big difference (I've seen the two side by side), and remeber 24" vs 20" is a very large difference in terms or total area.

its because comp gamers a) want the fast fps, but more important.

there is less screen to cover, give that at 800x600 you have 480,000 pixels, at 12x10 lcd res you have 1,310,720 nearly 3x as many.

the will also play with almost no eye candy because u see more. no moving shadows, no fancy plants to block you veiw alot of static images. etc. personally i think that the should play games at what they weren't meant to look like with all eye candy up, i mean to get a 'realistic' enviorment that would be perfect. if they had there way all the walls would be white, the enemy black, and boxy to see it quick

I dont think so, because even though now computers can play CS 1.6 1600x1200 @1023019281302 fps, I think the pros still play at 800x600

I agree, I prefer playing at 1280x760 (or whatever that 16:10 ratio is) but then again that could be partially due to my sub-standard video card.

Dont worry about non native resolutions in FPS, it sometimes looks better to me. The native looks more crisp, but almost overdone sometimes, its nice to have not quite so exact edges, more realistic almost.

I am, we are talking in game res... like doom3 max res is 1600x1200...
ah good I guess than I will have to "downgrade" to stay playable since gaming on 1600x1200 is alot of adjusting.
