Aircooled, one or two days in the tank is not gonna get you any butt action. They only do that in prison, and I have no knowlege of that!!! 😉

Relax butty, but don't relax too much...it's not gonna be that bad. 😀

He's right.. No one even wants to see your boot-hole where you'll do the 24 hours. In fact most of the people who will be there are 'normal' people just like you who just got on the wrong site of the law and got caught. About 70% of them for DUI if I were to guess. And dont' take the advise from people who don't know. Let me say again. IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL!

jail.. usually get time reduced by half for jail... so 12 hours they might be processing you out.. thats how it is here...

I've been PC'ed before overnight in a jail cell and it sucked major ass.

i'll take the community service, thank you

I don't know what the PC'd means but I have had to spend 24 hours in jail and it sucks, people have no idea what it's about (I am assuming most live in a city where you may be spending that 24 hours in a group cell with about 50-100 others all cramed in). If you live in cowtown mid-america spending 24 hours in a solo cell may not be too bad.

You have to get up for 'inspection' like each hour (no sleep basically), no meals, you have to get the biometrics done, you have to undergo a bunch of other BS.

Not all CS is orange jumpsuit and roadside, that is usually those from jail doing work....

Also.. just FYI.. county jails are NOT "POUND ME IN THE ASS PRISON"

I have spent MANY overnighters as well as a couple of 30 day stays in various jails.. and not once have i ever even been hit on... or seen anyone do anything like this...

The ONLY thing you have to worry about is maybe some big dude taking your food by force...
that happened to me a couple times... took a pretty serious ass kicking by 5 large black gentlemen that wanted my food.. that was by far the worst that happened to me ever in Jail.

Community service since I do volunteer on weekends already.

Agreed. I already do community service, and think that more people should be involved in community service projects. (of course, too many people are selfish of their time.)

So, OP, what do you want to do... spend 24 hours doing something positive?
Or spend 24 hours wasting your time and taxpayer's money?

Of course, if you do community service, it'll take several weekends to get the whole 24 hours in... so, if you're selfish with your time, then enjoy the jail cell. Then, you can tell your grandchildren someday, "Yeah, I broke the law and spent time in jail once."

For what it's worth, if I were a potential future employer and started a line of questioning based on the spot on the application where it says "have you ever been convicted of a crime other than minor traffic violations," and found out that you chose jail time over community service, I'd think less of you.

But, that's just my opinion.
Would anyone here, in the shoes of a potential employer, see a choice of jail time over community service as the better choice?

Do the community service. Trust me.. I spent 20 hours or so in jail and it was horrible. I have ADD and have trouble entertaining myself at home. I must've read the 'first day in jail' pamphlet 800 times. I would've killed for a book. The feeling you get of being in a jail really sucks - worthless, reject, etc.. The beds are impossibly uncomfortable and the 'blankets' they gave me were 4ft by 4ft sections of cloth - impossible to keep warm. Also, the beds were too small for anyone over 5 feet 8 or so.

Plus, the food is scary. The sandwich we were given made a better pillow than a sandwich (oh ya.. they didn't give us a pillow or anything like that). I found out later that everyone else pretty much used the sandwich as a pillow.

IMO, at least with community service, you're helping the community and you get to pick how you do it. When I did community service (not for punishment), I worked at Meals on Wheels. A lot of them were great people and the 8-hour days went by really fast.

That 20 hours in jail, however, sucked. It's like the night that never ends.. I'd rather have food poisoning.

Most people haven't spent a night in jail - so most probby voted for it. They do not make jail fun.

Your jail environment and mine = the same

It did indeed seem like a night that never ends.

Jail isn't fun, but its 24 hours and thats it. It isn't torture, it is reflection time. I voted for the jail.

i vote jail... I'd rather take a day of doing nothing than 4 days of picking up trash. It would kind of depend on your physical size. If you're 6ft 4 and 300lb, noone is gonna mess with you....

I'm 6ft 170, so not too bad either 🙂

The inmates that you are going to be in jail with are all going to be freshly incarcerated. They aren't going to be guys that have been behind bars for months or years looking for someone to have sex with.

Good point.

Not always true.

I say take the jail time. Maybe it will repulse you so much that you will think twice next time you put yourself into a situation that could warrant jail time.

You got lucky this time because you have a choice of which you want.

Maybe next time you won't.

Just my 2 cents.

Correct, not always. Others have mentioned physical size. If you are the size of a little boy community service might be preferable.

Bubba for 24 hours or 24 hours broken up for community service? I'll take community service thank you very much. So many people on here want Bubba. What gives?

Which sentence you're likely to prefer depends on the method you use to remove a band-aid or enter chilly water -- all at once or inch by inch.

One of my gf's friends spent many months in jail. When he got out, I took him out to a nice steak dinner, since I'd yet to meet him.

I figured he'd appreciate it and I wanted to know more about the prison experience. He's not someone who's big enough to fend off other people, so I figured he might have trouble being there.

He told me that the claims of being cornholed aren't really true. He said that nobody will mess with you if you keep to yourself. Sure you have your problems, but that's why your gang is there to protect you and vice vera.

Granted he doesn't want to ever go back, but I imagine one day won't be the end of your world -- plus it will be much quicker.

Your gang?

You should be able to do 24 hrs standing on your head. You aren't going to get molested as you are going to be in with others drunk drivers, non child support paying assholes and the like.

It really depends on what your county lock up is like. Regardless of your chances of being violated, it's really easy to pick on the small guy.

While many of the people you could be locked up with are normal day to day professionals that made some stupid legal mistake, your have quite a few brawlers and thugs just looking to pick on someone.
