That's the worst kind of serial killer. No rhyme or reason for his killing. It's just for fun.

He has it about right. Stop whining about law enforcement not doing its job.

This guy wanted to be caught for some reason. He practically gave himself up to them.

It just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

Oh, and expect the term "bushmaster" to be come synonomous (sp!) with AR15s.

Oh, well, what was I thinking?! I should have just worn a big red bullseye around town. How come the police notice that my tail light is out? Or are always there when Im endangering people by going 3 miles over the speed limit? But they cant see *ANYTHING* when they are across the street at the time of a murder?! Yeah, I should be more understanding and accept the fact our government (local, state, and federal) cannot or will not protect us and forget about the whole situation. They got him. They have had him all along. They just wanted to make sure he gets the death penalty instead of possibly getting life without parole.

Dont' be so ignorant. How many police are there in the DC area? How many people? Assuming these are the two snipers and they were firing from within the car how could they ever figure out who did it when no one ever saw it being done? The police never even knew who to look for, short of installing cameras on every street corner and taping everything that goes on in a city you couldn't have ever caught them. The zodiac killer in San Fran killed 30 odd people and never got caught because he/she was smart and never tried to contact police outside notes left at the crime scenes. Why do you think the police begged the sniper to call them? Because every time he contacted them it makes it easier for them to find him.

They had no connections, it was random murders done by an unknown assailent with no witnesses. If no one saw me do it I could gun you down on the street and I would never get caught. These types of murders occur around the US all the time. Without physical evidence or witness testimony you just can't catch people unless we turn this country into a police state.

First, the police are idiots. There was atleast one shooting in which an officer was *across the street*. Now, if an officer of the law cannot be relied upon to be a witness, who can? Arent these people trained to handle these situations?

The ATF should be disbanded, or given enough alcohol and guns to wipe themselves out. They have never handled anything well.

The FBI prove themselves to be just as bad as the police constantly.

Newcomer to the area -Maybe, if this turns out to be *the* sniper
Killing in a relatively large area -If the FBI and police were worth the money I pay them, they might have found a witness or two that was credible 😉
No witnesses -see above
No motive -How do you know?
No pattern -Poeple outside, by a road, bang.
No demands (until recently, if the bank account things turns out to be true) -Again, if this turns out to be the sniper

I have sat here for the past few weeks, watching the tv and the threads go by. The sniper is constantly on the news. I leave my house to hang out with friends. One of the big topics of talk around town is,you guessed it, the sniper. I come home after spending an evening out, not letting this asshole change my life or frighten me enough not to enjoy myself and I get pms or phone calls from people worried about me. I hear about local gas stations, that I remember being there in the earliest memories I have of the area, losing money hand over fist because of the asshole.

I am sure up there in Ohio you arent quite as worried about what is happening in my backyard. But you get to a pointwhen you are fed up with the BS. The police did what? They stopped a bunch of cars making one of the worst rush hour traffic areas even worse for the day. Did they find the guy? No. What else did they do? Wow, they walked shoulder to shoulder across the lawn. Anything else? They let the sniper tell them what to do for a bit before they begged him to call them back. What else? *WE DONT KNOW!* They dont tell us much here in the DC area. So the sniper kills a bunch of people in my area, plays the police, FBI, and ATF like puppets, and you want me to give them a break? They will get respect when they earn it. When they do their jobs and can make the people I care about feel safe.

I've respected just about all that's come out of your mouth until you spewed that rotten garbage out. Do you also believe the jews were behind 9/11? How are they supposed to cover every single inch of one of the biggest metro areas in the country? How are they to know that someone was shooting out a hole bored in their trunk? Is it their fault they relied on a lying witness for a couple days until they disproved his story: They've had him all along? Worst conspiracy theory ever. :|

they got my respect when they arrested these two guys. I doubt YOU could do any better than 100 trained monkeys working on this case with your theories.

But the officer is trained to notice things out of the ordinary. With all of the FBI, police, ATF, lawyers, techs, politicians, etc around here, you would think someone is smart enough to see a vehicle speed away, or catch a license plate number, or maybe even figure out where the shots came from.

Have you not been watching the news? The guy has been smart enough *not* to do those things. You expect one lone guy who happens to be across the street when *one* shooting happens to crack the whole case open by simaultaneously tracking 300 cars in a parking lot 500 feet away?

I expect people to pay attention to what goes on around them.

Well next time those shoplifting alarms at the exits to stores goes off while you are in the store and they get away, I'll just blame you for not paying enough attention.

Well if they found the rifle in the guys car, fire up ole' sparky cause this guys gonna fry, although I would rather drop him in the middle of DC and let the families do their worst. I'd even pay to see it on pay per view.

I give up. Im wrong. Ill admit it. The police, FBI, and ATF are super leet and have never screwed up before. So why should I doubt them now? ~10 lives isnt too much to pay for catching this guy. The area is over crowded anyhow. The fear my friends and family fear about going out these past couple weeks was illogical and unfounded. Constantly hearing about this from people that do not have to worry about it has made me a little jaded. Maybe I am just jealous that I do not live in an area where this crap does not go on all of the time, or maybe I just think they are talkiing because they think their voices sound pretty. Either way a bunch of frustration about the whole situation has built up. Combine that with recent personal events, general paranoia, and distaste for government bodies with too much power and not enough brains and you get stupid rants like mine. The Moose is loose ladies and gentlemen, and we have nothing to fear.

If you are talking about the guy who was shot at the grocery store with the cop near-by, do you even remember what the cop did? The cop attempted to save that mans life! You see someone wounded and still alive and you are supposed to go running off trying to find the shooter or tend to the guy who was shot. Which would you do?

I'm sorry n0cmonkey, but you're dead wrong on all counts.

And this is my backyard too.

I dont know about you, but for the past couple weeks I thought to myself, everytime I saw a white van with a ladder rack "Is that him?" If you read my post above yours I admit to being wrong on all cases.

Although, I still doubt the FBI or the ATF have a brain cell between them.

Between cynicism and ignorance, I just have to shake my head and feel sorry for people who think they have everything figured out and that the deck is stacked against them, but that the system works for everyone else who "doesn't deserve it".
The world's not that simple. The world is only as fvsked up as you believe it is if you only choose to look at all the negative and ignore everything else that works as it should or that which is good.
Go cry in your pillow, I don't want to hear your whining.

The investigation was screwed up here. They have had these guys names for several days now but didn't release them. The sniper called in the other day to say he was sniping and killed someone in Montgomery,AL. This caprice and tag number was noted after some of the first few sniper attacks. They never even flagged it for questoning. Moose and the feds screwed everything up and extra people died because of it.

I can't believe are actually defending the investigators. They made a fvck up of this whole case and are lucky this guy got so cocky that he started calling in to the tip line.

He also blows away the typical lonely white male theory that all profilers seem to cling to. I mentioned to several friends that this guy had to be black because no one was seeing him(or his getaway driver) leave the area. Everyone was looking for a white or middle eastern person. This guy wasn't really that smart. He just happened to have a few ideas and broke the mold of a typical mass murderer. Also, WTF did a white astro van or white box truck come from? Obviously, this guy was sitting back laughing because they were using the same car everytime and no one was remembering it!! That is how the media helped this guy get away. They kept saying white van or box truck so much that everyone started seeing one at everyone scene. The police were hesitant to tell the media that they didn't really know jacksh!t, so they let the charade go on forever.

Sorry, but this case was really blown. I don't think they intentionally let this guy kill extra people so he could kill extra people. They were not prepared for a killer that breaks all the molds and they bumbled several major clues and spread too much misinformation.

I give the cops and feds a D- on this case and they only get that because they finally caught him.

Bullsh!t. :| I read this all over the place and its pure crap. The task force was URGING the media to disseminate the information on the white van, originally bolstered by the lying witness at the home depot shooting who completely fabricated the story of seeing a white van. Only when investigators saw him on a home depot video inside the store at the time of the shooting were they able to discredit him. Obviously, they believed him at the time and authorities thought it credible enough to release multiple pictures to the media and urged them to widely publicize the theory of the white van on the hopes of getting a tip.

Even after they discreditted the one witnesss, Moose and his herd of wonderboys continued to push the white van thing. I want to know where this white van is. I heard rumors of the caprise, but never saw anything about it on the news. Or if I just dont remember, they obviously didnt mention it much. WTF is up with that?
