w00t! Hopefully this will bring an end to the case. How long before they can match the 'fingerprint' on the bullets/casings to the gun?

all they need is to fire a bullet from it and analize that...give it 2-3 days at most.

Im a cynical bastard, but I doubt its the sniper. Right now I have more faith in the sniper killing all the people in the DC area than Moose catching him.

Moose is just a mouth piece. There are 600 FBI and 614 ATF agents on the case.

Well I hope it's over. But the P.C. crowd didn't get their "angry white guy" now did they...

Well, the only thing that worries me is how quickly Moose and crew dismissed the idea that these two were working with a larger group. They have pretty much confirmed that these two were working alone. Seems like a quick judgement to me, but then again we don't know exactly what or how much information the authorities have.

Trust me, I hope I am. It may be kind of bitchish, but I got my gas at the Sonoco in Manassas last night (because they probably arent making a whole lot of money right now) and I didnt stand still.

And the non-PC part of me is saying "dammit they're just a couple'a country boys from 'Bama--an ex-Army mechanic (no sniper training) and his highschool dropout stepson. They so stupid-lookin', they should'a been caught sooner!"

and the stepson was in the country illegally, and they both were known to express support for the 9/11 hijackers.

Another way to think of this is that the Feds could play duck and cover and blame Moose if things went really bad, as long as he was technically in charge. Who could blame them considering Congress accused the Agencies of not having the Magic Eight Ball working properly w/ 9-11

In addition to the gun being found, the step son is a resident of Jamaica. This is where the bank is that the sniper wanted the 10 million transfered to. The car also had a hole cut in the trunk so that the gun that was found could be fired from within the car.

To many connections for me I think we have our snipers in custody and the balistics will confirm it.

I hope you all are right,, I really do. My only problem with this is the fact that this sniper has been leading these idiots around like an ATOTer after ass. I lost faith in the authorities.

Also, I don't know how much you know about what transpired yesterday, but this is what I saw:

Chief Moose had a statement scheduled for 6:00 pm. This was to be a message to the shooter, no questions from the press.

At 6:45, a MCPD officer announced that the statement would not be taking place because of developments that were taking them in different directions.

By 7:00, both CNN and MSNBC had cut to coverage of some backyard in Tacoma, WA being searched by about 15 FBI/ATF guys. They were running a metal detector over the grounds, they x-rayed a tree stump, and then they removed the tree stump.

At 8:00, I went out with my girlfriend. ;)

At 12:00, Chief Moose held a press briefing, informed the public of the APB for Muhammad and an unnamed juvenille, gave a description of the car and a license number, and was careful to say that he was not a suspect (obviously he was, but they didn't want to say that). Then he issued the message to the sniper with the "duck in a noose" quote.

Around 1:00 am this morning, someone (in a white van, no less) called police from the rest stop near Frederick, and within a couple of hours the guys were in custody.

I can tell you that I don't think we would be hearing much about this if officials weren't pretty damn sure about it.

I'm not sure how we could have expected this person to be caught any sooner.

Newcomer to the area
Killing in a relatively large area
No witnesses
No motive
No pattern
No demands (until recently, if the bank account things turns out to be true)

That's the worst kind of serial killer. No rhyme or reason for his killing. It's just for fun.

Yeah, neither do I. I'm hearing a lot of people bitching about Chief Moose this, and FBI that (including my dad), but I have yet to hear one specific complaint about something they should have done differently. Maybe the tip line could have been more organized, but that's about it.

All the ATF has done so far is display their ignorance on national television.

I just hope they aren't jumping to conclusions and blaming the wrong guys because everything looks like they want.

Quit the searching and more people are shot, or the real killers retire knowing that they have gotten away with it and the wrong people have been blamed.

Oh, well, what was I thinking?! I should have just worn a big red bullseye around town. How come the police notice that my tail light is out? Or are always there when Im endangering people by going 3 miles over the speed limit? But they cant see *ANYTHING* when they are across the street at the time of a murder?! Yeah, I should be more understanding and accept the fact our government (local, state, and federal) cannot or will not protect us and forget about the whole situation. They got him. They have had him all along. They just wanted to make sure he gets the death penalty instead of possibly getting life without parole.
