2160P vs 2160

I'm thinking about buying an ASUS MG24UG but on page 29 of the manual it is states 'P' resolutions.

  1. What is the difference?
  2. Which is better?
  3. Why is there a 0.03Hz difference?

3840x2160P@29.97 Hz
3840x2160@30 Hz

To add to what tg2708 already said, the "p" denotes "pixels," and 2160p means there are 2,160 pixels if you count them vertically. The display also has 3840 pixels horizontally. Think of it as columns and rows of pixels that make up a whole display.

Actually, the p stands for progressive. It's a leftover from the days when TVs used interlacing, with the final letter of the resolution differentiating between the two scanning methods, e.g. 1080p vs.1080i.
