Shimm, have you tried taking the hsf off and cleaning the cpu and heat sink, then reapplying your paste? Also, make sure you have the hs on correctly. Even someting small like the ATX power connectory putting pressure on the heat sink can really mess your cooling up.

I have played with mine a bit more even though I expect (hope) to get my 8rda+ on tuesday or wednesday. I've got it running very stable (ran prime 95 since 11:30 this morning and everything is going smooth. Temps are at 40 degrees with the fsb at 139, cpu is at 2297. Running an AX-7 with a Thermaltake smartfan (from a volcano 7). Of course, it is a bit loud at nearly 4000 rpm but I'll mess with that tomorrow and see how low I can set the resistor and keep it to 45 or below. The 2100 is just amazing, running on a 266a with such a nice overclock.

thanks!

temps are a little lower now... umm... geez, everyone's getting such good o/c's except for me 🙁

i think i've hit a wall with this baby at 2104 mhz.... @ 1.775V

i've tried upping the voltage and increasing the FSB and what not but it won't stay stable 🙁

i ordered an antec truepower 430W... i hope that helps some or helps my stability a lil... if this true power don't work, then i'm selling this 2100+ and ordering another 2100+ from pcnut.com and not newegg!!!

I've been happily running at 12x180 @ 1.675 for days now. NO crashes/BSODs/other crap. What a great chip! Way to go AMD. 😎

I would like to get my temps down though. During gaming (UT2003/MaxPayne) CPU temps hover around 46-47C. P95 Torture Test gets them right at 49-50C. Going to add another case fan and see if that helps.

good case flow should help with the tempuratures

trying another small tiny jump this morning. fingers crossed. toast ran all night and was still running this morning at 2188mhz.

now trying for 2210mhz

Bump b/c this is my favorite thread at the moment. 🙂

I didn't get a chance to do 12x185; too busy hooking up a KVM b/t my server and secondary rig. 🙂

Bump for you guys and gals. 🙂

Well started playing around with overclocking beyond 12x180 today.

Right now im at 13x180@1.825vcore.

temps are pretty high ,47C under load.

couple of questions:

what seems to preform better higher FSB or overall higher clock speed? for example i can get 11x200 fsb@1.7 pretty easy seemed to be stable at that setting as well. didnt test it that much.

or should i consider going for outright clock speed overall? im not very comforatable running at this voltage,so i expect the maximum i will get on a steady overclock will be around 2200-2250 mhz.

i'm out of the race till i test this memory with memory tester. i think its the problem all along. this means buying new memory

ANYONE know how the newest batch from newegg is?

1700 bred also...

looking to get a 2.2 or higher on air

with either epox 8d+ or ASUS A7N8X Deluxe

thx

i have a 0301 2100+... can only squeeze 2125 mhz out of it....

i HAD a 0251 1700+ JIUCB only got 1950 mhz out of it (sold it on the F/S forum)....

i WILL HAVE a new 1700+ by the end of this week... hopefully it'll be a JIUHB ... seems like the H is doing better than the C's.... rommelrommel got over 2.3 ghz out of his JIUHB 0251 1700+ @ 1.85V

What kind of memory Jen? Yah it looks like you may have to get either faster memory or a mobo that unlocks the higher multis. I thought my memory might be faulty, but it turns out it just couldn't handle the FSB I was running it at. Oh well, thought Samsung TCB3 was better stuff. Anyways, I had to back it down to 174mhz to get it rock stable; confirmed the RAM was fine by running Memtest86 and Prime overnight. Hehe Prime got through like 5 tests, no errors, but Memtest got to 1100+% which was what I wanted to confirm anyways.

I wanna run faster FSB too, but I don't wanna just swap it out for 512MB of Corsair. I want the full 1 GB if I upgrade, just don't wanna shell out $420 for it 🙁

Dude, you're gonna do the 1GB matched pair thing from Corsair? Whoa.....can I have your table scraps, then? 😀

Seriously, I'll bet you post some hellacious mem benchies w/that! Best of luck. 🙂

Pc2700 Samsung which i have ran at 175 fsb with my Palomino. When i go to change the ram settings to anything other than what is bios default it reboots on itself. A increase of memory voltage reboots the computer as well. Need to run memory tester today to figure this dumb memory out. Memory was at 168 fsb when i decided to do some changes

sorry to see you had bad luck with your samsung 🙁 i think some people did as well... i've run mine at 185 before but i'm running it at 184 right now.. (not bad for a pc2700 stick)

well i ran memory tester for a hour at 177 fsb and it passed . not sure how long i am suppose to run memory tester to confirm memory is ok. this was 2301mhz at 1.74 volts since i dont have a way of going lower on the multiplier

current timeings are set at.

166
2.5
3
6
3

back to testing at 13 x 169 . one tiny step at a time to see what the problem is here

Jen

Try 1.8Vcore and changing your timings slightly to 2.5-3-3-7. That's what I'm running and its been rock solid stable. I don't think the Samsung likes the most aggressive timings much higher than it is rated for, as I had instability issues until I relaxed the timings at 174mhz. The Memtest readme says to run it until 1000% or more, but says 1000% is pretty thorough. Running it overnight should have achieved this easily. I could get my Samsung to POST and boot into Windows up to 192FSB, but it would lock pretty quick. 187-182mhz I could run apps, but stresses like Prime would error after a few hours.

mine passed prime95 at a FSB of 184...

Jen - Thugsrook told me that as long as it can pass 6 loops of memtest86, then it's considered stable 🙂

oh yeah, nice o/c ... i see you're up to 2.3 ghz!!! @ 1.74 volts...

water cooled right? i'm thinking this air cooling stuff is overated.... might have to get some water flowin' through my baby...

suggestions?... i.e..... what the junks is necessary for a water set up anyway?

just had it at 2301mhz for testing memory test. i didnt try it in windows so i'm uncertain. i will relax the timings a bit more to see if this helps some

i'm thinking water cooling is the way to go anymore or we need chips to perform better at lower voltage.

i'm useing a original Spiral copper waterblock [cost was 50 dollars at the time]
heater core that is 5 5/8 wide x 12 inchs tall with two 120 mm fans [ heater cost new 25 dollars / solder job 5 dollars ] [Fans was 25 dollars]
350 gph dan mag drive pump [ this thing leaked on me once . ] [Pump cost 45 dollars]
half inch water lines [75 cents a foot.........3/4 OD and 1/2 ID ]

i also added a relay switch that i got from radio shack for 7 dollars. so pump switchs on when computer starts

prime still going

system temps today is high 31c and cpu is steady 42c

I guess the brown one's aren't too bad after all.

I'm at 15x148 = 2220 right now.

41c idle, 49c full load on a slk-800 with pcpwr&cooling silencer fan (It's silent)

Will try higher after I'm completely sure this is working.

all right.. my TruePower 430W is coming today... I will put that baby in and see if i can get this 2100+ a little higher.... or else, i think i'm gonna get rid of this 2100+.....

🙂

Heheh try the TruePower first 🙂

Man, I'm seriously considering getting a water cooling kit now :Q I've spent like $120 in the last few weeks to get my fans under control, and since Xoxide sent me the wrong color rheobus, haven't had a chance to even install it. I had it sitting over the weekend and found myself lacking the motivation to install it (also b/c I knew I might return it).

Anyone out there using one of those full Swiftech kits? Is it any good? They go for like $220-$260 at FrozenCPU.com. I just want something where I don't have to order all the "best" parts and then worry about compatibility etc. This seems like a good choice, block looks good, tubes are 1/2'', the only things I'm unsure of are the radiator and pump quality.

The only concern I have is where to mount the radiator in my PC-65. I definitely have room for the pump at the bottom of my case near the PCIs, but there's no way I could fit the dual-radiator in the front; maybe only at the top with an empty 5 1/4''. I'd also have to make 2 x 92mm blowholes. Or I could get the 80mm dual-fan radiator, and attach it to the top blowhole. Anyone that has the same water pump know if there'll be problems with the pump sending enough pressure to push the water upwards to the CPU water block and then to the radiator (higher than CPU block), and then back down to the radiator?

If I just got a water cooling kit to start with I probably woulda spent just as much as all my air cooling :|

Anyone?? 😉
