This processor's upper limit seems to be around 2275Mhz so I've been trying to get the highest fsb/memory setting while staying below that speed. I had to connect the 5th L3 bridge so that i could use the manual multiplier switches on this board. (ohhhhh how i miss the kt7-raid bios). Anyway, at the moment it's running at 2250mhz/360fsb via 12.5x multiplier. So far the system has yet to crash while doing benches such as UT03,Q3, 3dmark03 etc. however, prime95 will quit the torture test in the first 10 min. while multitasking with MusicMatch, creative dvd (outputting 2Gb Mpg to t.v.), IE, Outlook, and Sandra (checking temps/voltages). My question is this; How relevant are errors while multitasking with prime95? Can other apps. interfere with prime95? I can run q3 timedemos while multitasking all the apps i mentioned with no problems so i'm wondering to do.

I don't know the answer to your question. I personally have considered any error in prime95 (even ran it concurrently with 2 hours of Unreal II) to mean my system is unstable. My goal has been to get 100% benchies and torture test results while doing everything I can think of to whack the system. The last thing I want is some minor error that manifests in some unfavorable way at exactly the worst possible moment.

I'd have to say if you need precise calculations, or if u need to do insanely intese 3d Applications, its not a good idea for Prime95 to fail and to continure using the system at that speed.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will test some more. I ran Prime at 2262Mhz for 8hrs and was ok. One thing that has me wondering is that Xp is showing that Dxr3 is sharing irq with Geforce3 even though Dxr3 is in pci slot 4!!! (Silly Gigabyte manual doesn't show irq assignment, I guess they want you to trial and error your config.) I would love to multitask and have prime95 show no errors as well...

no no no..

this is the 2100+ thread :)

sheesh!

13.5 x 178 = 2403 @ 1.8V : prime95 is chugging along just fine.... (50C with a rotating fan blowing on it)...

my other one was 2350 @ 1.775 and only ran at 45C full load... no rotating fan..

i'm gonna try to reseat this slk-800 again...

:)

yeah, too bad i sold it :D

....

yeah i dunno...

the slk-800 slides around.. it can get high ended on the plastic part of the socket so you have to be careful...

argh...

still no better...

basically, it's heat now that's limiting my overclock... i know it can do 13 x 180 = 2430 @ 1.8V but runs around 50C... when i turn off my rotating fan, prime fails... so definitely a heat issue... argh.... oh well...

Prime95 for over an hour now with no errors...

Temps are high though... 53C @ full load :(

sad about the temp but it's running fine yay!!!

so any one have suggestions to lower my temps besides running water (jen!!!) :)

and with price drops being mentioned, anyone notice the price drops on the P4 - 2.8 and 3.06 cpu's? newegg is carrying them for $365 and $598 respectively.

of course, at those prices, we could be buying anywhere from 4-6 AXP 2100+ cpu's, haha.

just my $0.02 :)

can't wait til someone starts a 2500+ barton thread... hehehe...
