This processor's upper limit seems to be around 2275Mhz so I've been trying to get the highest fsb/memory setting while staying below that speed. I had to connect the 5th L3 bridge so that i could use the manual multiplier switches on this board. (ohhhhh how i miss the kt7-raid bios). Anyway, at the moment it's running at 2250mhz/360fsb via 12.5x multiplier. So far the system has yet to crash while doing benches such as UT03,Q3, 3dmark03 etc. however, prime95 will quit the torture test in the first 10 min. while multitasking with MusicMatch, creative dvd (outputting 2Gb Mpg to t.v.), IE, Outlook, and Sandra (checking temps/voltages). My question is this; How relevant are errors while multitasking with prime95? Can other apps. interfere with prime95? I can run q3 timedemos while multitasking all the apps i mentioned with no problems so i'm wondering to do.
I don't know the answer to your question. I personally have considered any error in prime95 (even ran it concurrently with 2 hours of Unreal II) to mean my system is unstable. My goal has been to get 100% benchies and torture test results while doing everything I can think of to whack the system. The last thing I want is some minor error that manifests in some unfavorable way at exactly the worst possible moment.
I'd have to say if you need precise calculations, or if u need to do insanely intese 3d Applications, its not a good idea for Prime95 to fail and to continure using the system at that speed.
