Yeah bailouts are only for big banks

yeah, or how about this: "IT'S SO UNFAIR! that we give vastly less money to 1 million people than we give to 1 thousand people for the very same...presumably moral reasons!"

etc

Republicans don't care about anything. They don't know how numbers work any more, and they also can't see what is in front of their faces. This is by design. This is the world they have been building for themselves. Complete, shameless blindness.

She needs more than that with the outstanding amount from Pima. It's all over except for the cries of "rigged election".

From the Washington Posts' numbers it looks like the other counties besides Maricopa and Pima with 200+ ballots remaining are roughly:
  1. Pinal: 9850 (58-42 Lake)
  2. Apache: 8875 (68-32 Hobbs)
  3. Navaho: 4575 (54-46 Lake)
  4. Coconino: 1650 (63-37 Hobbs)
  5. Cochise: 1550 (59-41 Lake)
  6. Yuma: 1400 (56-44 Lake)
  7. Yavapai: 1250 (64-36 Lake)
  8. Mojave: 800 (75-25 Lake)
  9. Gila: 225 (66-34 Lake)
So looks like conservatively Hobbs should actually gain 400 votes from these 9 counties combined, and that's ignoring mail in ballots trending bluer than general.

I DO hope that the people who get the student loan forgiveness have to treat it like any other bad debt...and claim to it on their taxes ..state and federal
The forgiven student loan debt will be considered taxable income in most cases.

The current Biden plan actually has it so that they would not be subject to federal income tax (thanks to the 2021 American Rescue Plan); however, there are a few states that may still tax the amount forgiven as income.

It’s been a pleasant surprise most election deniers who reside at various points on the lunatic spectrum have so far accepted their fates pretty meekly. Though it’s clear the electorate is not at all in the mood for their shit so not really a ton of alternatives. Decency by a lack of options is sort of an improvement I guess.

I haven't really looked at the numbers but what nags me is the slim margins of some of the Dems who won like Fetterman vs Oz, Herschel Walker vs Warnock. I think if the Republicans chose candidates who weren't brain dead and complete fools like the ones Trump backed, they could've won.

Fetterman is going to beat Oz by 5 points which in this environment is a drubbing. Candidate quality is very important. MAGA credentials not so much.

The problem is that a GQP majority in the House will wreak havoc. Endless investigations and hearings, potential government shutdown, and the Freedumb Caucus is already demanding impeachment of not just POTUS, but some cabinet members as well.

I understand the gridlock argument, but the House will turn into an around the clock clown show if the GOP wins the majority, as is still quite likely. Maybe that sets them up for even greater failure in 2024, but I'm not sure if we all want to find out necessarily.
Oh I agree. Dont really know how you interpreted my post. By "total gridlock" I meant in regard to passing any useful legislation. That certainly does not rule out endless hearings, maybe impeachments, shutdowns, and so on.

It appears to me that the Dems really got the vote out this cycle. I believe that was due to the Abortion Issue and the younger generation getting out for the College Debt relief promise. Also I guess the fear mongering about the end of democracy if the Republicans win control. We all gonna die! 🙄
You mean like the fearmongering from the republicans that somebody was going to take their guns, poison their children's minds, kill "babies", steal the election, and turn the country into a lawless communist hellhole?

Looking forward to Americans leaning about arcane House parliamentary rules a 2-3 seat majority will have to contend with on a daily basis. “Motion to vacate the chair” is among the exciting things to anticipate.

A conservative complaining about fear mongering is like water complaining g about being wet. Fear mongering is their presented policy, while funneling money to the .01% is their real plan

^^ also, to add more context here, conservatives are going thru a pretty important move to the far right, and electing officials that are on that boat. Voting for Trump, and completely self centered person who literally tried to overthrow democracy isn’t a small thing. It’s a huge glaring red spotlight on a red flag

How is it 'fear mongering' when it was quite clear that a substantial proportion of the Republican Party was aiming to do exactly that? What else was all the mad 'the election was stolen' stuff about?

They've even been trying to put it into effect, with all Trump's legal (and illegal, i.e. the Capitol assault) efforts to overturn the election results. They just haven't been very effective at it, because they didn't have the "right" people in place in the system when they needed it. Had they achieved that they would have taken it to another level next time.

As I said, I'm perversely slightly disappointed their schemes have been stymied before really getting started. The failure of the election deniers to get elected seems like a victory for normal politics (and for boring centrism, even).

But I'm unexpectedly impressed that a wishy-washy centrist like Biden seemed aware of the danger this time. That he explicitly warned of the danger to democracy suggests he's more alert and with-it than it sometimes appears.

see, liberals are just as bad because they point out terrorism in the U.S. is almost entirely perpetrated by conservatives

And 90% of those are Trump Loving MAGA... So that's actually good for Democracy.

Those MAGA's who've killed themselves and those who are about to in order to support those totally bullshit emotionally driven points made by Trump the Reaper is testament to the spectacularly thorough job of being mind-fucked by him and their conservative political cadre.

These supposed leaders of theirs must be suffering from chronic stomach cramps from laughing their collective asses off at how easy it is to convince their flock to actually kill themselves out of loyalty to a party that exclusively exists on the blatant lies and disinformation being disseminated by their leaders of whom are only interested in making bank from their working class party members who are being victimized by them on a daily basis.
