Good Golly. Rosetta has some massive bandwidth requirements. If you haven't run it before on a client, you get the privilege of downloading a pair of databases 270MB each, then some other large file well over 120MB, and then each freaking task is nearly 3MB. I sure hope the uploads aren't so intensive. I'm guessing right at 1GB per host/client. 🙁

Thanks for the heads up.

Their tasks have always been ginormous d/l's. I can't remember what the updated db's were. For along time, a single task was 50 MB d/l and of course I don't remember the u/l result. I *think* it was only a few MB.

Yowsers, that's a lot of data. Uploading any bunkers for Rosy had best not be a last minute thing.

CNT has certainly begun doing something sneaky. They are dropping fast in both the Marathon and Swimming. Are we to believe they are all in and bunkering for Rosetta? Nah....

Here is an indicator how much teams will benefit in the upcoming Sprint from the part of their membership which doesn't care for Pentathlon.

The 4th discipline was announced at 12:00 UTC:

City Run: Asteroids@home
from 14 May 2018 00:00 UTC
to 19 May 2018 00:00 UTC

Asteroids@home was listed as a CPU project because, in contrast to other GPU projects, a GPU is barely more powerful than a CPU. However, of course tasks done on graphics cards will also count.

Yay, a GPU project! (Sort of.) I'm just going to run this on GPUs until the real GPU project is announced.

Jeeper's bulletin on day 5:
https://www.seti-germany.de/forum/content/870-BOINC-Pentathlon-2018-Day-5

Marathon: "Whilst TAAT continue to maintain a great #6, CNT (#8) are starting to breathe down the neck of Team OCN (#7). There’s now more certainty of a forthcoming change of places."

Swimming: "BOINC@Poland have moved up to #8 and are thus holding the best cards in this four-way fight for one of the places in the Top10. Whilst RKN hold on to #9, CNT (#11) are clearly losing ground and had to let TAAT (#10) overtake them."

Overall: "SG at #6 have lost a bit of ground and must also brace themselves slowly for OCN (#7). A bad day at Swimming led to TAAT (#8) also losing points but as CNT (#9) behind them are also weakening, nothing happened."

Does Asteriods run faster on AMD than Nvidia ? I have one unused card, a 7970.

I think Asteroids is Cuda only for Nvidia cards. I did read once about a script to convert it to OpenCl for AMD but I never investigated it.

I did try it, lets just say there are some...... platform specific....... optimisations

I also have a prototype app, which doesn't work well

Well, @Kiska, you could go do some Moo Wrapping for FB until the real Pentathlon GPU project is announced. (And cache it until tomorrow.)
