I bought an A4 because it had good performance, handling, superb AWD, a dealer experience that wasn't absolute s**t, nice interior, easy to do my own stuff like oil changes, HIDs and it fit me (I'm 6'4").
Now, I kinda fit the Fusion, but in pretty much all of the other categories, it it was no good. Awful touch screen interface, projector halogens only, handling was "meh" at best, as was the power the engine produced...and both Ford dealers near me are *awful* - over the years, I've had a salesman who literally said "I don't know anything about this car. They never trained me.", one who argued politics during a test drive and wouldn't drop it (Yeah, no buy), another who started to help me and then walked away from me when he realized I wasn't buying that same day (yes, he walked away) and so on.
