If MSU or Iowa wins out they're in. Yes, someone else likely have to lose, but the likelihood of that happening is high. I get what you are saying though, if it was Ohio State then they're in either way.
I don't get that last line.
If Ohio State won out in regular season but lost to Iowa (and Iowa won out in regular season), then I am confident Iowa would get the nod to be in the top 4.
If Iowa wins outright and wins the B10 Championship, they will definitely get the nod, it won't matter who they play at this point.
Things could still get funny though - if MSU were to lose next weekend and OSU beats UM next weekend, then OSU goes to the conference championship. If they then beat Iowa, I suspect they would get the nod to the championship, though that's not at all guaranteed. But that 1 loss wasn't ugly compared to the losses of other top 10 teams this year, which can help factor in. But it might be a tough sell since OSU barely looked held together throughout the year, let alone against MSU.
For the strongest chance for the conference to get a contender in the playoff, we should all be rooting for MSU and Iowa to win next week and for Iowa to take home the conference championship.
But dammit I still want to see the absolutely batshit craziness and everyone lose their minds if enough upsets happen and OSU bounces back as the underdog and wins the championship.
OSU does better as the underdog. They fuck up when everyone butters them up.
