Jordan Lynch to rest his golden arm, signs with the Bears as a RB.

Should make the HB option pass one hell of a play.

Hell ya the guy is a beast. His vision between the tackles and instincts when in tight spaces is epic. Guy was third in Heisman and took over games. Would love for him to be H back who options and throws screens. Would be sick.

Hell I would line up in a single wing and put extra tackles on the tight end spots. MEAT!

Bears also signed Christian Jones who toked up the week before the combine like an indiot. Guy had 3rd round grades and could make the team with such limited depth at linebacker.

Wow wow wow... Buffalo REALLY screwed the pooch with the Stevie Johnson trade in hindsight now, literally by hours. Not only are the Browns likely down Gordon for the season, but Burleson just broke his arm - again.

Buffalo better hope Bryce Brown be the next Barry Sanders or something, which is going to be difficult to do in a rather crowded backfield.

Well technically we don't know if he toked up, he had a diluted urine sample that usually indicates an attempt to hide a positive test. It's surprising that he wasn't drafted because he is a physical beast, but he underperformed most of his career at FSU until the latter half of last season when they finally found the right spot for his skillset.

He's an intelligent guy though, and I expect he will be a solid special teams player and could see playing time as he's pretty good at covering the TE in space. He's certainly a steal as an UFA.

Was he reaching for another slice of pizza?

I can't wait to get my Borland 49ers jersey. Loved watching him at Wisconsin last year. It's also probably the only new 49er jersey my Green Bay loving, Wisconsin alum fiancée won't burn. 😉

wow 😱

maybe the sec should re-do their criteria for def player of the year to align more with what the nfl seeks in defensive players?

I don't think so.

Most college awards are in recognition of a player's performance in his college games.

The NFL draft is mostly based on expectations of future performance in the NFL. I.e., they're trying to guess how good they will become in the future.

I am tired of the, "Sam should have been drafted much higher" garbage.
-snip-

^This^

I would also add that a college player's prospects for any NFL team depend a great deal on what system they were in during college and what system an NFL teams runs.

Sam seems a tweener to me.

E.g., He seems too small to play much run defense as a DE in a 3-4 defense. And at 4.91 in the forty he seems too slow to play at OLB where he would have pass cover responsibilities.

At his size he needs to be much faster, or at his speed he needs to be much larger.

But he could still be successful. The NFL has many players who are, or have been, successful at their positions even though their measurables are poor. We'll have to see.

IMO, if not for all the publicity surrounding his being gay, I think he would have been an UFA signed by a team that thinks they have a system he could do well in. I don't follow enough NFL teams to know how many teams that could be, but my suspicion is it's not many.

Plenty of good players this year went as UFA, no shame in it. IMO, the UFA is very much like the regular draft except the players actually have a choice if two or more teams offer them a contract. Some people actually claim it's better to be an UFA than get drafted in the last round(s) for this very reason.

What sucks for Sam is he probably got drafted by a team that won't be able to use him since he'd be so far behind the depth chart and the Rams could very well be facing public pressure to not cut him. Apparently he had UDFA offers from a few teams that could actually use him in a situational pass rushing role and were better fits had he not been drafted. Based on him numbers, I don't see him beating the starters or backups for the Rams.

The UFA to star stories are always the best ones. Arian Foster is a great example of someone who didn't have the measurables people thought would make him succeed. Wes Walker, Tony Romo, James Harrison, John Randle, Antonio Gates, Warren Moon, and of course Kurt Warner.

Every team has special teams. He could stick if he lays some big hits in camp. He will never see the starting lineup.

I thought this was a cool video...

Inside Buffalo's draft war room during the draft.

They detail how the trade with Cleveland went down, which was imho pretty interesting because there was a lot of uncertainty that Watkins wasn't going to be there at #4, and even when Cleveland hit the clock the Browns were still fielding calls from other teams. I knew it wasn't as cut and dry as "hey, let's trade", but just seeing it from the inside makes it that much more interesting.

Ravens giving Jerry Rice a workout.

Pats looking into Mallet trades.

Browns cut Vince.

You mean Jerry Ricecake...

Wonder what Deion Sandcastle will say about that.

I kid, I kid. You meant Jerry Rice Jr.

He's not quick twitch enough to be a good special teams guy. I guess they could just toss him out there though.

He'll do fine on the Rams practice squad. They get all the publicity benefit from drafting him and try to coach him up to play on the big club over time.

I like a few players in the Broncos draft. Latimer reminds me a lot of Demaryius Thomas. Opposite him with Sanders in the slot could be good stuff. Wes Welker also out of the slot. Julius Thomas at TE. So many weapons for Manning.

If Roby can get back to 2012 form he will be great as well.

The steal of the draft though could be at Linebacker in the fifth:

Lamin Barrow, 6-1, 240, 4.59-40

Tackles. Loss

2012 104 7.5
2013 91 5.5

CJ Moseley, 6-2, 235, 4.63-40

2012 107 8
2013 88 9

It's pretty clear that the two players faced similar competition. Anxious to see how he might turn out for us. If nothing else, our linebacking corp will be FAST!

Thank the gods the Seahawks staffs went beyond the stat sheets when they picked Russell Wilson and a few other players.

hehe, good point. But BB also made that point--GM's constantly make mistakes by looking at stas or avoiding them.

As far as Seattle goes, though, I think they liked what they saw of Wilson, but he certainly wasn't drafted with the intent of being the new Jesus. He was supposed to be the backup to guy that they just rented for some 20 million dollars. lol.
