My company hired 80+ in the last two months. I know a few companies that have 100s of open positions. And when Novartis completes building their global research headquarters in Cambridge, moving it from Sweden, that'll will bring 1000s of jobs to the area.

Obamanomics at work folks. It's only going to get worse. Obama is a job killer. The deeper we get into this year, the more even the devout worshipers will turn. His EPA alone is inhibiting growth and costing jobs. He's killing the coal industry and prohibiting the new oil pipeline. He's mandated healthcare, which is going to cause many lost jobs and reduced hours. So to all the idiots that think this president is so great....I ask why?

Why don't some of you ask why the census was moved into the White House....one of Obama's first priorities? Control the jobs report, distort the truth. Bottom line is most folks are worse off under his rule, if people want to be truthful.

Surely you don't mean Cambridge, Massachusetts? Everyone knows that individual mandate and high taxes are going to kill the economy.

Quit talking smack and look at reality for a change. Somehow, you have seemed to escape the wrath. When his socialist policies impact members of your own family, and they will, then what say you?

In my own family, a pack of liberals, by my own admission, I know they have been hurt badly. How I know is that they have grown silent and are no longer singing dear leader's praises. My own liberal brother is one who had to mail some of the insurance cancellation letters.....you know the ones that came after the president proclaiming, "if you like your health care plan, you can keep it."

There is nothing they can say. They got burned by their own ideology and many of you will or already have, but just are too wuss to admit it.

Seeing how I live in CA, I am already impacted by "socialist" policies, yet I am doing just fine.

Oh, well as long as YOU're doing just fine then everything is peachy, right?

For 2012 (the most recent year available), California's GDP grow at a 3.5% rate, tied for 5th highest in the country. You would think with all that communism/socialism/etc that it would have been lower on the list, no?

The country is full of idiots. Half of them think you can run a steel industry with solar panels and the other half believes the earth is 6000 years old and all known science is a global conspiracy run by Jews (because so many Nobel Prize winners are Jewish).

Does anyone get the feeling the environment is used as a distraction? You can't be looking at our 100-200 trillion dollars of unfunded entitlement programs if all of your attention is on environmental regulations.

This is such a ridiculous thread. Every economist, including the most partisan conservative think tanks, agrees that the economy as a whole has been adding jobs for months. The question is just how many relative to what we were hoping/expecting. The last jobs report listed slower GROWTH in jobs than expected, which is bad. The prior two reports listed faster GROWTH than expected, which was good. But everyone knows that it's a net growth. So what purpose could it possible serve to list just the jobs lost without balancing them against jobs created? In what economy will there ever be no jobs destroyed? Businesses fail sometimes.

Oh, well as long as YOU're doing just fine then everything is peachy, right?
California as a whole is also doing pretty well, despite decades of hysterical conservatives warning of imminent mass departure or businesses and rich people. There are still plenty of problems, obviously, as there are everywhere in this economy, but it's nowhere near a crisis like you'd think if you read the Wall Street Journal or watched Fox News over the past 30 years.

You might be interested to read this piece about the 'unfunded liabilities' in those programs. Anyone get the feeling that 75 year projections are used as a distraction to explain attacks on the welfare state today?

Rich people and jobs aren't leaving California...it's the middle class and poor that are leaving.

They also told their part time workers they wouldn't be providing them health insurance and to get Obamacare.

http://money.cnn.com/2014/01/22/news/economy/target-health/index.html?iid=EL

Following in the footsteps of several retail peers, Target has announced it will no longer offer health insurance to part-time workers. Instead, it will encourage them to sign up for Obamacare.

This is quite interesting.

"By offering them insurance, we could actually disqualify many of them from being eligible for newly available subsidies that could reduce their overall health insurance expense," the post said.
