Of course, there is never any problem a liberal cant solve by raising some more taxes...
I'm sure they'll pass a 100% death tax so your entire nest egg is used to pay for all of the medicare you used in your last years.

Sam's Club cuts 2,300 workers

The layoffs, which cut 2 percent of the membership club's U.S. employee count of about 116,000, mark the largest since 2010 when the Sam's Club unit laid off 10,000 workers as it moved to outsource food demonstrations at its stores.

Bill Durling, a spokesman at Sam's Club, says that a little less than half of the cuts were aimed at salaried assistant managers. The cuts are also eliminating some hourly workers.

Durling said that those workers who received notices will continue to get paid for the next 60 days and will have time to re-apply for opportunities at Wal-Mart or other areas of Sam's Club's operations. After that time expires, they will receive severance.

"We're trying to treat our associates with utmost care and respect," he added.

We live in a country of 300 million people. Some company is always hiring, conversely some company is always laying people off. This thread is retarded if all we're going to do is regurgitate news stories of lay offs and ignore overall economic statistics.

Albertson's may be closing 26 stores, but they are buying United Supermarkets, which has about a dozen or more stores under in development.

That said Q1 is the traditional time of year for layoffs.

Oh and business failures don't necessarily equal recession. It usually means businesses failed to keep up with the current market.

Exactly, if I ever move out of CA, it won't be because of taxes or lack of jobs. It will be because real estate prices here (Silicon Valley) are insane. When it's time to buy a house, I am going to have to think long and hard about where I want to live.

Stay the fuck out of Austin, TX where you guys keep flocking. Pretty soon you're going to fuck up the only state that can have a thriving economy while the rest of this nation is taking a huge nosedive into shit.

I was saying this as a joke but apparently they already passed this.

She was shocked: If you’re 55 or over, Medicaid can come back after you’re dead and bill your estate for ordinary health-care expenses.

Isn't that awesome? If you're too poor to pay for obamacare, you get dropped onto medicaid and the state jacks your shit after you die. This isn't even war on the middle class. This is war on the lower class. Obama won't be remembered as a bumbling idiot like Bush. This is simply evil. Planned destruction of America.
Lots of poor people actually do own things. My mortgage and food could be supported by 1 full time job paying Washington's minimum wage of $9.32/h.

So >55 they're going to liquidate the possessions and property a person leaves behind to pay for their Medicaid? That's some evil shit.

GE shuts down last of Fort Wayne facilities

General Electric is planning to shut down the last of its Fort Wayne facilities after more than a century in the city.

GE says it expects to close its motor testing lab and executive center in a year, eliminating nearly 90 jobs as it moves the work to Monterrey, Mexico.

The company once had almost 10,000 workers at its Fort Wayne campus, where 13 buildings now sit mostly vacant.

Just to be clear medicaid has always required that a person's assets be fully drained prior to covering their stay in places like long-term nursing facilities. I don't know about clawbacks having been in place, but it honestly sounds like more of the same.

I don't consider it particularly evil that the government is not going to fully cover and subsidize a person's long-term medical needs so long as they have assets.

Btw, this is only medicaid, which is very different than medicare.

You guys didn't know that? End of life care will ensure the lower class is never allowed to pass any assets along.

"But Democrats say death taxes only affect the wealthy!"

LOL, some people are so gullible.

To my knowledge Medicare generally does not cover nursing home costs, that's Medicaid. The government is going to get your money one way or another. It's funny that some people believe the government is for the little guy.

You could thank Clinton for signing NAFTA. Ross Perot warned everyone in 1991 about what is going on today.

Right, I'm not sure what the purpose of your post was? I explicitly said medicaid and then at the end additionally clarified that all these provisions for draining assets was only for medicaid and not medicare.

Medicaid = enormous subsidy that is not going to be accessed until you have no funds and desperately need it. Hence people signing up for medicaid found fine print stating that any assets would be clawed back to pay for costs. This is how it's always been, as I was explaining to MagickMan who thought it was an inherently evil practice.

How is a government willing to pay for all the costs of the little guy not for the little guy? If you own significant assets then clearly you don't need the government 100% covering your nursing home /etc. If you don't have assets then the government will step in for you.

Obamanomics at work folks. It's only going to get worse. Obama is a job killer. The deeper we get into this year, the more even the devout worshipers will turn. His EPA alone is inhibiting growth and costing jobs. He's killing the coal industry and prohibiting the new oil pipeline. He's mandated healthcare, which is going to cause many lost jobs and reduced hours. So to all the idiots that think this president is so great....I ask why?

Why don't some of you ask why the census was moved into the White House....one of Obama's first priorities? Control the jobs report, distort the truth. Bottom line is most folks are worse off under his rule, if people want to be truthful.

Wow and where are the FEMA death camps?

The wealthy can afford their own end of life care. Medicaid clawback for expensive end of life care ensures that generational wealth is the province of the ultra wealthy, and that the middle class is never able to pass anything down and build middle class wealth. Who do you suppose profits from end of life care that strips generational wealth from the middle class? I'm simply pointing out that in this case the government is at least partly responsible for ensuring the middle class is never able to save anything.

Elections Have Consequences...this is what you get when you elect a academic meatHead who never had a real job in his life..yet most of you consider him the end all in smarts. Misery loves company. The wizard of smart he's not.
