Not sure how much longer the Saudis can run a budget deficit before North Dakota folds. I am just going to sit back and burn more carbon until then.
Saudis figure that they can hold out for at least 5 years at current levels due to their financial reserves at their current spending levels.

One financial news station priced what oil was selling for, and the OPEC nations were selling much less a barrel than the US or Canada or Mexico.
In other words kiddies, if the oil thing was all up to American sourced oil, we'd still be paying $3.50+ a gallon. And more realistically, $4+ a gallon.
So we can thank OPEC for our low oil prices, and ONLY OPEC.
If we had indeed DRILL BABY DRILL-ed our way into oil independence as republicans wanted us to do, we'd see $4+ a gallon gas now and forever more. More likely $5+.

I say enjoy this while it lasts. And F-ck the stock market.
They will figure other ways to steal your 401K dollars, low gas or high gas.
Just sit back, stay calm, and everybody relax.
Enjoy the savings.
Take a family vacation in the SUV.
And thank God for competition. The only thing saving our butts from $5 gas.
However, do beware.
Republican controlled state governments in short time will start talking of tacking on excessive taxes on gas at the pump. Especially as gas prices are falling, republican controlled local government won't like the average Joe getting a break.
They never have.
They will hike those gas taxes and have you paying $3.50 a gallon in no time, regardless.
The down side, when oil starts rising again you still have those new gas taxes.
And that simply means $6 a gallon at the pump after the good times end.

Read your local news papers, especially in republican controlled states.
If your republican governors and legislators are not already pushing for new gas taxes, your not looking close enough or reading the fine print.

What about the Democratically controlled states and locales? Oh that's right they've been sticking it to the average Joe for years but it's only a bad thing if the Republicans do it...........gotcha!!!!

Wow, so much fail in one post.

It's the Suadis, not OPEC that is controlling the price now, but go ahead and continue with your misinformed ranting.

.

Top 5 highest gas taxes by state:

Pennsylvania 68.9 Blue
New York 68.7 Blue
Connecticut 65.8 Blue
California 63.8 Blue
Hawaii 63.4 Blue

Might as well post it in a McOwned thread, this is right on his level.

Yep, we are all oil thugs or oil thug supporters.

What a shock, sportage didn't come back and defend the theoretical nonsense.

I think he meant, "If your democrat governors and legislators are not already pushing for new gas taxes, your not looking close enough or reading the fine print." [sic]

My republican legislators have already blocked 2 new gas tax increases proposed by democrats in my state in the last few months. :\

Here we go.

I'm sure gas here will rocket up 30 or 40 cents tonight or more.

Oil Rockets Higher in Late-Day Trading Burst

U.S. crude oil futures prices just started soaring.

West Texas Intermediate oil is up to $48 a barrel, or 4.8% from about $46 at around 2:00 p.m.

Regardless the reason, oil prices surged more than $2 a barrel in fewer than 30 minutes.

Stocks in the oil exploration and production segment, including EOG Resources (EOG) and Newfield Exploration (NFX), are strongly higher on the day.

Both the United States Oil Fund (USO) and the iPath S&P GSCI Crude Oil Total Return Index ETN (OIL) are up about 3%.

Remember as gas prices go back up that there is tons and tons of oil and gasoline no matter what the Liars and Loser Oil Thugs say.

Crude Oil Inventory Surges to 80-Year High

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) released its weekly petroleum status report Wednesday morning. U.S. commercial crude inventories increased by 5.4 million barrels last week, maintaining a total U.S. commercial crude inventory of 387.8 million barrels.

Crude inventories are at their highest level for this time of year in at least the past 80 years.

Total gasoline inventories increased by 3.2 million barrels last week and remain well above the upper limit of the five-year average range.

The agency also estimated that regular gas will cost an average of $2.33 a gallon in 2015, rising to $2.72 in 2016.

I know a couple teachers who would hate that graph - min = 45, max = 48.5.

Edit: And I will spell this out, just in case: an honest graph starts at zero. An exaggerated graph, like the one above, covers what the author thinks will best prove his point.

Of course the Liar and Loser Oil Thug supporters in here will say that never happened.

Also the Oil Thugs should be producing the infamous "Summer Blend" now.

But of course they want to use the excuse of having to shut the refineries down and there is no gasoline bullshit to justify what is clearly insane price gouging they have been getting away with since 1973.

The Oil Thugs admit to gouging for 93 octane gasoline:

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/as-ga...-fetches-unusually-fat-premium-150553933.html

As gas prices collapse, high-octane fuel fetches unusually fat premium

The oil-price crash has provided dramatic relief for pain at the pump. But drivers who like to fill up with premium-grade gasoline are feeling a twinge of discomfort as they’re asked to pay an unusually hefty added charge for the good stuff.

The price spread between premium and regular unleaded has spiked to a record high above 40 cents a gallon

On a percentage basis, premium gas is now more expensive vs. regular than at virtually any time in the past two decades.

Because premium-gasoline buyers -- mostly owners of expensive, high-performance cars – are already geared toward paying extra, gas stations feel less pressure to slash those prices as quickly.

it is weird though, I don't feel like buying premium gas considering it is now 25 percent higher then regular. However in real terms it's still the same price higher, about 40 to 50 cents per gallon. Not so long ago only around 10% higher so didn't seem as bad. My car is a Ford Focus ST ecoboost, so it runs fine on either, I just lose about 20hp.

my neighbor just bought a Volkswagen TDI. When gas was so expensive he wanted to buy a diesel bc of miles he drives. Unfortunately diesel has not dropped in price like gas in my area, he seen all those mileage improvements basically be erased. Doh!

The reason diesel is not dropping is due to the ultra low sulfur requirements and process required to produce the diesel. The most expensive portion is the catalyst used in the cat cracker which hasn't dropped in price.
